Created by: ALjet12
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 16, 2020
Published: Oct. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trouba got traded to the Rangers in 2019 off of his RfA deal because he wanted to go to NY and was fed up with WPG. jets got a Poink and first round pick. I could see Laine refusing to sign in WPG then being traded to the Flyers.

The problem is that Laine's twice as valuable as Trouba is...

I just think WPG would get a better deal from the flyers, as a islander fan I would do a Pulock for Laine trade if Dobson is a #1 Dman by that time but the isles have not even resign him yet so who knows

doesn't matter if Laine does not give a damn about WPG and flat cap world so more difficult to get a higher
return

Buch will be out RFA next year like Laine
Laine= 9M
Buch long term @5,5-6M
DeAngelo just sign @ 4,8M
2M more going in Winnipeg starting next year... all good for NYR as well has many player are ELC and they have more room

There's a huge difference between the 2 scenarios though. Laine has 3 years of team control left and is complaining about top line minutes and lack of a legit C. Trouba was engaged to a woman who wanted to be a doctor and couldnt do that in Canada. Plus there was something about his dad not being able to travel over the border?? maybe Im wrong about that. Plus Trouba played 6 seasons for the jets

WPG is in big trouble if they do not trade Laine at the deadline or resign him by then

Laine still has to sign the extension do you really want a Nylander situation going into next year?

There's just that...it's made explicitly clear that Laine hasn't requested a trade per se, he isn't opposed to the idea either. No one knows for sure, but I don't see the guy being like that regarding that team.

Also WPG still have 3 years of complete control of the guy...he's not moving cheap. That's absolutely 100% certain.

You know well both players: Buch 25G-60P guy et DeAngelo proved that he is a great two way D PP specialist with 40P+
These are big needs for Winnipeg

I'm not sure Philly does that, they are stacked at forward and I cant see Laine getting his desired 1LW, (Philly has Giroux, Lindblom, JVR, Farabee and Raffl at LW, with TK, Voracek, NAK and one of frost/Patrick at RW).

Its not that they wouldn't want Laine, but Myers is a stud and their only real RD, it would be acquiring a player they don't need for one they desperately need.

Philly will counter with Ghost, a 1st and a ton of other stuff, but not myers or sanheim.

You forgetting about the mutual disdain on both the management and player side. It is going to be real interesting next summer

He's under contract for this upcoming season and all reports are he will attend training camp and hasnt asked for a trade. This is a year away from a "NYlander" situation and, as of right now, the jets hold the power. A lot can happen in a year

Neither participant is happy with the current situation, but you can bet your balls on Jets being less happy with a lousy return than just negotiating a deal with the guy. Snipers like him are rare breed.

"DeAngelo" and "two way D" shouldn't be in the same sentence. He's excellent offensively, and an absolute plug in his own end.

Rangers need a center - not another winger.

All Im saying Jet Fans do not be surprised if a team with a superstar center takes advantage of the uneasy tensions between Laine and Management with Laine pushing himself out the door without getting what the fans expect in return

Well jets would have a ton of better offers than this on the table anyway

Not saying this is horrendous but I would rather let Laine go to FA then Accept a garbage trade when we could have gotten a lot more
