Agree. It’s just tough to find a recent comparable. Stars these young are almost never available.

. We’re giving up way too much future I’d rather keep the kids and see them develop with us

I guess Dougie Hamilton and Tyler Seguin could work as comparisons

Ya I know it’s a lot. It hurts even looking at comtois on the trade. I’m big on him. I just seen this guy play live a few times and it’s unreal how awesome this guy is. He is exactly what Anaheim has needed for a while now. A pure goal scorer. He is so young too.

Yeah I would not pay the cost of Laine, he’s worth every bit of it but it doesn’t make sense for ANA to do unless the deal was like Manson, Comtois, 2021 first lottery protected, Guhle is the absolute most I would give from a ANA perspective, though I doubt WPG does that

I don't know...Ducks have a ton of these mid-6 guys (Milano, Heinen, Terry, Jones, Silfverberg), and a ton of 5th/6th/7th D options. Gotta make a move at some point to raise the actual talent level.

    Not nearly enough.

Manson, zegras, a top 3 protected first plus a mid lineup winger. I guess hienen makes sense.

He'd literally be the best goal scorer in Anaheim history.

I agree with that but if we move a good haul of prospects I would want a more well rounded player than Laine.

Selanne, Kariya, Perry in his prime? Cool down there buddy 😂

Zegras is a non starter. Laine shouldn’t be someone ANA goes after

He wouldn't even be the best FINNISH goal scorer in Anaheim history . . .

Obviously the Finnish Flash is the only other one in discussion, and ironically started in Anaheim. ANd he was a rocket richard winner and second for the Ducks in '96/97

However his best goal scoring year was at the age of 22, a season Laine literally hasn't had in the NHL yet.

In Laine's first and second year post draft he put up 80 goals which puts him as 4th best teenage goal scoring in all time.. At the equivalent age Selanne played one year in lower Tier Finnish league and then put up 4 goals in 11 games in the Finnish league

Between ages 18-21 Laine has scored 138 goals, Selanne had not yet made the NHL.

But yeah, he would be the only comparison and is certainly one of the best goal scorers of all time. But so is Laine, and to age 21 Laine has outproduced Selanne (now at 22 he broke out, so its a bit of an unfair comparison).

Selanne see above. Kariya and Perry are incomparable through their production at those ages. I don't think people realize how rare Laine's goal scoring has been at his age.

Laine is 8th all time in goals scored under age 22.

    He is that good

There is an argument that he has slowed down however, as even more impressively he is FOURTH all time in goal scored under 20
