Stralman would be nice but I don't think his value is nearly as low as Eriksson's.

Even though he's been injured, when healthy DDK is still a top-4 D on any team. He has value.

Swapping Eriksson for an equally bad contract on D doesn't solve any the cap issues in Van, what really needs to happen is pay the price to rid yourself of that disaster along with Suter, Beagle and Roussel then and only then will you have the cap space to pay Hughes, Petterson and add to this team so they can be better

I probably should have expanded on why this is so bad.

Zaitsev, as good or bad as he is, I don't care which side you come down on for that, he was needed for 22 minutes a game by Ottawa. You want Ottawa to give those minutes, and a pick, for your 13th highest toi forward? Eriksson doesn't play in Ottawa, so it doesn't matter how good or bad Zaitsev is, he's needed more than Eriksson. Eriksson is a hole in the offence.

I think Zaitsev gets traded at the 2022 trade deadline, before his next signing bonus needs to be paid.

TBH I think Vancouver would still need to add in the Detroit trade. DeKeyser is always injured but when healthy he’s a solid 3rd pair guy or for us a fringe top 4 guy. He’s more valuable than Eriksson and his contract is less so the Canucks would still need to give up a draft pick.

If you are going to LTIR boychuck the isles would just do that and not have to take on Eriksson

Boychuck would be in the line up if the trade happened.

I did a whole bunch of mock trades so I put all the acquired players on LTIR. In reality the player acquired would be in the top 6 D for Van.

DeKeyser is ready to go from what I've heard.
