Trying to get the Ducks to playoffs

Description

This one is a bit odd but I think it could work. The first two trades (Backes and Fowler) are almost purely cap dumps. Remember, I'm trying to make a roster that can make the playoffs THIS YEAR. Also, Lindholm is a better defenseman than people give him credit for. To me, the Gaudreau trade makes sense on the Calgary side because they need a change of scenery. Gaudreau didn't meet expectations this year for the Flames, but with a new team, he may want to prove himself as a top winger in the league once again. Trading Silfverberg for Gaudreau was the main cap piece. He is a utility winger that Calgary can use in the top 6. Sam Steel was essentially replaced by Logan Brown in the Cam Fowler trade. The Ducks would also have to give up picks in order for the trade to go through so I moved the 2022 1st as the main pick.

Trading Fowler would be unwise. That D-Core instantly got horrible on the left side without him.

Trading their pick that could easily be Shane Wright or Brad Lambert just for a few more years of 40 wins and a shot at maybe winning a single playoff series

The entire league meanwhile is trying to compete lol even Detroit a bit, it's the perfect time for ANA to tank

With the 2022 draft being historically good no less

Cam Fowler has a 4 team trade list, And there's no freaking way Ottawa is on it. He'd waive to come home to Detroit before he'd waive for Ottawa.

If you don't know very much about our team (as evidenced by the fact that you have Ryan Kesler as an active player and you think Cam Fowler is a cap dump), you really shouldn't be making team posts of it.

Cam Fowler is no more a cap dump than Charlie Coyle.

Ottawa has Chabot on the left side and just drafted Sanderson at 5th OA. Even if Fowler would waive to come to here he's just not filling a need for us.

I don't think any team would give up assets to get Backes.
