I am not to sure Detroit takes that deal. Retaining 5 mill for numerous seasons does not allow for the flexibility Yzerman claimed he wanted. 2 1sts a 2nd and 3rd are great assets but that's a lot of salary to swallow.

So Minnesota trades a 1st, a 2nd and Dumba for Nylander?

I still think they're getting value here, but a risky move when you're a lottery team

What's the incentive for MN? I mean Nylander for Dumba makes sense, if MN is willing to bet that Nylander is a top-6 center. Paying a 1st and a 2nd just to dump Zucc doesn't. They can just retain on him themselves and he'd have value. MN has more than enough cap to make that happen, sign their RFAs, and still go UFA shopping after this season.

Put Dermott in the 4 spot and keep Nylander.

IMO Nylander + Dermott >> Dumba + Zucc (33 yo who's begun to decline with 4 more yrs on his deal)

That's a lot of cap for DET (or anyone) to retain. 3 years on Dumba, 4 on Zuc. It would be very hard for anyone to justify that without a VERY crazy payout, which I don't think either MIN or TOR would want to pay.

Also, I don't think AA will get anywhere near $2mm+ for a contract. So you probably have a little more cap then what you are presenting here.

Leafs wouldn't trade Nylander and Holl for Zuccharello and Dumba. Then the Leafs also have to give. 1st and 3rd also? And then we get into the discussion that all other team Dmen are top 4, when Holl was the Leafs best RHD last season and their third best Dman overall.
    AA at 2.4? Wow.
