Pens Leafs trade

Created by: HockeyTownUSA69
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 9, 2020
Published: Nov. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Toronto gets Blueger, a 25 year old Forward, who already had Zelke votes last year. They need the defensive help. He plays multiple positions and can score too. Only makes 750K. And they get Riikola, who plays both LD/RD equally well. Seeing as they like their Russians..lol. He Came over from Russia as a 25 year old prospect. Played well, even played wing last year for the Pens. The Pens rewarded him this year with the 1.1M contract for 2 years. And get the 3rd round pick.

Pens get a 3rd line Center upgrade and have the cap space to take on Kerfoot. Instead of trying to sign Haula or Granlund at a 2M-3M deal, the Pens take on Kerfoot’s contract. He’s younger!! And get T.Liljegren, a RHD, to pair with PO-Joseph in the future.

I bet A lot of Pens fans have different opinions. But ya, I respect your opinion. that’s why I did the trade. Even though Liljegren has lost his shine as a prospects a bit, I still think he’s gonna be a solid NHL D-man.

Blueger, Riikola and a 3rd for Kerfoot, Pens easily say no. The Pens organization thinks highly of Riikola. That’s why they gave him that contract. They think he’s a solid NHL D. That plays, like I said in the description, the LHD and RHD equally as well.

Right, lol. Sorry, it’s auto correct. I know it’s Selke.

if TOR didn't have like 17 #6-#9 Defensemen Riikola would b a good fit. I bet Dubas has looked at him in case they have like the plague or something hit ONLY the LHD...

Lol. My old Dr’s last name was Zeilke..lol.

Perfect. I just looked at the hockey reference page and saw 4 total votes. The page I copy and pasted a link too.

Yes, all Tanev/Blueger/ZAR received votes

He only has one 4th place vote. No 5th place. Total of 3 points as that's what a 4th place vote is worth in the point system that determines the winner.

I might be the leafs fan that is highest on blueger. I was looking at the trade and thinking that is something I might consider but dubas wouldn’t.... then I saw he added liljegren... YIKES!

I could see that, no need for riikola, figures he was just there for cap purposes.

Kerfoot had a down season last year and I get that. The offers for him have been pretty horrible. He is the leafs 5th best forward and the fastest player on the team. Plays great defensively too. Also gets under people’s skin. This is what he can do when he isn’t producing. Expecting him to bounce back this year in that column.

Leafs fans underestimate him as much as every other fan base. So I get where you are coming from. He is certainly worth more than Kapanen. I think at this point in the offseason it doesn’t seem like anyone has value... even UFA’s so trading a player they need and not getting the proper return back just makes little sense for Toronto.

And I think the Pens organization thinks way more highly of Riikola than a lot of fans do!! He isn’t as highly as regarded as Lehtonen coming from Russia, But he was a good Defensive FA signing coming over. And played well his 1st two years in the NHL. Like I said, that 1.1M contract was a reward from the Pens. And he plays both the LHD and RHD just as well. That’s a valuable trait for a defender.

But I agree. Obviously, it’s why I made the trade..lol. I think Kerfoot and Liljegren make the Pens a better team. I just thought McCann was too much. And a prospect and a 2nd round pick wouldn’t interest Toronto more than Blueger IMO. Toronto needing Defensive help and toughness.

And yes, Leafs fans on here, ACGM, have all been dumping Keefoot like he’s a salary dump!! Lol!!
