Tavares a bit low, Crosby>Drai and I think you could make the case for Matthews as well but I can understand it.

The only player out of the ones you compared that Tavares is better than is probably just Aho, schiefele, and prolly Zib too

He’s still the most complete player in the NHL. He played through injury this season. A fully rested and healthy Crosby will be very good this season

there's that small sub concious part of my brain that, despite McDavid/MacKinnon being amazing and everything, if it's a win or die game, I'm still probably taking sid lol, the guy is so clutch

his career is just too good, he's the quintessential hockey player. hard to say he's "better" than mcdavid or mackinnon but like, idk man lol. I still see him as potentially top 5 imo

Imagine if Eichel and Matthews switched teams, everyone would think Eichel is the better player. Only reason people think Matthews > Eichel is because of where they play. Players in Buffalo get disrespected in every hockey news source. Dahlin didnt even make the top 20 D men in the NHL, wasnt even considered in the NHL article about best D man in 3 years

did you expect any differently though? playing in a city with a 9 year playoff drought will make you irrelevant. no questions asked.

I still have high expectations and hopes for Crosby - but I think Mackinnon showed he can play a 200ft game and his stats back it up. He’s the closest player to Mcdavid/ Leon’s offensive output - but he’s better defensively than them. Imo that makes him have a stronger case then he did last year. And mackinnons playoffs were amazing. He took 1 for my imo this year. Crosby still is not allowed to be lower than 3, but I think hes gotta catch up to them this year (even if it’s due to injuries I still get a sense he’s behind), and by no means would Crosby struggle with catching them as he’s proven he’s a leader, clutch performer, 200ft player but so offensively talented that we forget how reliable he is defensively. Compared to Mcdavid who is more of a “Glass Cannon” - I think it’s safe to always assume Crosby could be a 1/2 after next year.
