Pretty far, even though I wouldn't classify Huberdeau or Tkachuck as defence first

well, they need some sort of scoring, but this is a mostly defense team

Huberdeau, Kapanen, Leivo and Ennis are not defensive forwards. Replace them with Gallagher, Foligno, Nichushkin and Blueger.

This is not a mostly defense team, this is a high end two-way team. O'Reilly, Couturier, Stone, Pietrangelo, Ellis, and certainly Huberdeau and Tkachuk are not "defense first" players. They're legitimate star players who play very good defense.

Watch hockey bud. Couturier is literally one of the best defesinve forwards in the game. same with stone, orielly, eliis and petro.

i had to add some sort of scoring. based on when the latter three you mentioned, when they played with the leafs, i remember those guys as giving a great mix of scoring and defense. I agree that gallagher could be a great addition.

Yes, and they're also star offensive players, not "defense first" players.

when you think o'rielly or couturier, they've both recieved selke votes. Theyre defensive forwards over offensive

No, they're not. Marcus Foligno is a defense first forward. Brad Richardson is a defense first forward. O'Reilly and Couturier are 1C's that play high end defense.

Were nitpicking here guys. When I think of stone I think of an ELITE player who is a monster defensive player with an unreal stick plus IQ, and excels offensively. Stone values defence as to why the OP is using him as an example. When I think of stone I think of a defensive forward but he’s ELITE compared to the other guys and being elite means he’s gotta be amazing almost everywhere. I get both sides here but you’re nitpicking here. Stone obviously values offence, probably just as much and goals he loves scoring but he’s a defensive forward

Its criminal to make a defensive team and not include a guy that is tied for most Selke's and a finalist for 9 straight years. Hell he's been top 5 in Selke voting for 11 years running

Barkov, Bergeron, Slavin all make this team over Huberdeau, Tkachuk and Muzzin.
