Here’s our 4th best forward, now give me your best defenceman. Why would STL consider this? Nylander is good but not that good, and still $7M against the cap

Florida is also likely not interested in taking on more salary

I don't really think it's so much a "Here's our 4th best forward" thing, as much as a "Why would we create that type of whole on our blueline?" thing.

Agree 100% on Florida, especially with them giving up picks in the trade as well.

And Tippett will be much better than kerfoot in a few years.

Not that St. L would ever consider this, as it totally depletes their blueline.

But as a Leaf fan I would much rather see what our current blueline looks like after the Brodie signing, then move Nylander for more help on D - seems like overkill, and forces Simmonds (or some other fwd) to play way higher in the lineup then they should.

I'm just going to ignore the Parayko nonsense, but whaaat the hell is that FLA trade? You could not get a 2nd for Kerfoot, let alone plus a 3rd, let alone plus Tippett! Woof, dude.

Marner/Nylander traded for a RD? Check
Kerfoot and/or Holl dumped for scraps? Check (kind of, Tippett's not scraps)
Overpaying a free agent winger? Check

yep, its capfriendly time
