Huge overpay for Letang. No way MTL retains 6 years of Petry.

Id prefer Petry over Letang, overpayment on Tuch, and Kulak is better than Chiasson imo

Pass from VGK, the only reason to trade Tuch is for cap savings which this doesn’t do when you attach Drouin. This would’ve also made more sense pre-Schmidt trade.

You lost two first round picks and a second while weakening the 6 on offense and the top 3 on defense. Impressive.

Lol. Letang is still a top 10-15 D in the NHL. Plus still a top PP point still too. Only 2 more years left on a contract he took a home town discount on. Top RHD get 8M per. He signed for 7.25M. Same with Sid and Geno. All 3 signed alittle less so more money could be spend on the team. And Sid did it 1st and said it doesn’t work unless all 3 of them do it. But Petry isn’t even in Letangs category.

Overpay for an Overpaid Defenseman, 7.25M for a Defenseman who already 33 years old, and by the time this contract is up he's gonna be 35. You are paying for a guy on the decline. Montreal wouldn't do that. That Vegas deal might be decent, but you have to take on a little more cap because Vegas is in that tight pinch. Blues will have nothing to do with that deal. It's not anything we want, and quite frankly he's one of our better offensive threats. We aren't rebuilding so Blues just don't take this at all. Not that it's enough either.

Letang for Byron, Petry, ($1,65 ret), Belzile, 1st
Pittsburgh potentiall accepts only with the retention, but maybe not.

You are taking a shot at Letang for his age, while he and Petry are only a few months apart.
You are taking a shot at Letang for the length of his contract, while Petry's goes 3 years longer.

31 year old, 4th line Byron has $3.4Mx3 left.

So, questionable contracts are being moved, but they are not going to Montreal.

Letang costs more than Petry, so again, why would Montreal overpay for an overpaid player. It's not like they want him.

Because the yare moving out more bad contract (amount and term) than they are taking in.

Edmonton declines. They don't want or need those players nor their cap hits.

again they are leaving gaps in holes. Who wants to pay a 2nd, and a couple slightly overpaid contracts, for a player who is getting paid more at 33 years old forget about Petry for a second because Petry does his job well and is worth his contract. Now. The other contract is to be determined, but his contract is front end pay so by the time the years he's worth the contract is over the money he gets paid at the end isn't destroying them. Letang with an injury history already, and can't stay very healthy is getting the flat 7.25 Salary the entire time. Byron can be moved, but i'm sure he will be moved. It doesn't make sense to take on a huge contract of a player who you have the risk of getting injured. Shea Weber already gets injured enough you don't want to have 2 defenseman that are apart of the main core getting injured the entire season and screwing Montreal over even more.

Montreal gets out of the bad contracts faster and less overall cap.

Neither team cares about the cash. That is just grabbing at straws.
