Thoughts on this - what needs to be added

Created by: Faulk_my_Dzingel
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 10, 2020
Published: Dec. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Of course some adjustments to the roster would need to be made for the cap. Perhaps Nashville needs to throw in a pick or prospect? But I woke up thinking about this... cause I’m a loser and wake up thinking about hockey trades. Anyway, Nashville gets some much needed scoring, Winnipeg gets a dominant 1-2 centre punch. Ry Jo is an excellent centre just needs a change of scenery IMO

I know Laine didn't have the greatest season, but considering the age difference and Johansen last few seasons (particularly last year), he's barely living up to his contract.

Johansen as the base makes a bit of sense, but Nashville would have to add quite a bit here.

Nashville needs to add. Maybe Afanasyev or Tolvanen Tomasino is too much as the inconsistency in Laine’s game goes but hes still a 30 goal lock. I think Tolvanen is fair.

They got Stastny to play as 2C. I wouldn't acquire Ryan Johansen.

Easy no from Jets. RyJo probably does need a change of scenery, but NSH would have to add significantly. Jets brought in stastny to play 2C no need to get johansen.

Perfect. So I’m not completely out to lunch here.

Nashville would add a couple more pieces. But laine and johansen would both be better playing WITH each other in my opinion. Laine is an excellent sniper and johansen is an excellent set up man. I think they would be better playing together.

I would like the jets to add RJ, but the deal does make sense IMO.
If the jets are gonna move Laine they need to maximize the return. So they should play him this season, hope he lights it up and then take the best offer next year.

Doesn't really make sense for Nashville to move Johansen IMO. We bought out Turris so we don't really have anyone ready to backfill the role of 2C.

That said, Nashville would need to add in this. They wouldn't add Tomasino because he's the best looking C prospect we have. Afanasyev is probably the 2nd best C prospect we have. Tolvanen wouldn't be necessary for Nashville to keep if they got Laine so he'd make sense and probably a pick or so contingent on how many NHL games/points Tolvanen gets in Winnipeg.

Edit: I guess Nashville could go get TJ for free as a stop gap 2C.... could possibly work

No, not imo. Johansen has had struggles in nash. Laine is inconsistent. They could both use a change me thinks.

Ryan Johansen is pretty bad for what his contract is, people may hate on laine, but he was still a good top 6 guy last year and is still really young, despite his defensive isssues
