I'm a huge leafs fan. But why are we rating them as number 4? I see no reason for them to be ranked in the top ten at this point. Hopefully I am proven wrong.

They’ve got great goalie depth which will be crucial especially this season, they’ve significantly improved their defence, added grit, depth, and leadership. I can’t seem to rank them lower than maybe 7th, and that’s a stretch.

Curious why you see teams like DET, OTT, LA, CHI, SJ, Etc above the Ducks who have better goaltending and defense than all of those teams and offense is debatable

All on paper. We were also thinking the leafs had the best top 9 last year and were excited about Barrie and thought Andersen would put up vezina type numbers. Didn't exactly pan out. I hope your right with all your statements, I just think putting them as a top 5 team at this point given some of the playoff performances we saw is crazy.

I don’t agree with a lot of this. Especially where you placed Toronto.

well.... nope. I dont think they have enough defensive depth or winger depth. If their wingers overperform and Caleb Jones is ready for the 2LD spot, theyre on par with toronto

Fair enough. I think everyone will be biased towards their teams. I personally think your left side is better with Klefbom out, but our right side is better. Our wingers are okay, but our center depth is really good, and better. Goalies are pretty similar. I think we are pretty close to eachother honestly.

Funny oilers add a bunch of depth after finishing last season with the best record among Canadian teams and now suddenly drop off bellow Toronto who got older and slower Calgary who’s big addition is a goalie who was on par with kosk van who I find hard to see as improved.

outside of the top 10 is a stretch, but they have a lot to prove this season if they want to crack the top 5

Toronto shedded offence they didn’t need for cap space to sign guys on defence like Brodie. They got slower and older, but with that comes leadership and grit, which the leafs lack, as well as depth because joe Thornton is still joe Thornton. They got rid of all the bad defencman that were weighing them down from last season, and got Rielly a great partner. Lehtonen is a guy many are sleeping on. Ppg in the khl as a dman.

K fair about the leafs but why are oilers so low? Unlike the leafs they didn’t send guys out to make room to bring new guys in. Oilers had the better record last season and went out and added kahun turris jp upfront only subtracting sheahan. Adding Barrie to run the power play is improving upon a pp unit that was operating at an historic rate.

A lot of people forget that the leafs did way better than the oilers under Sheldon keefe (27-15-5), anyways, the oilers defence especially with klefbom out, plus their backups and whoever their third goalie is are bad. They’re gonna have to play them a lot considering this season’s format, and it’ll hurt them. Yes their forward group especially their top 6 is good, even great, but the bottom 6 is terrible. Barrie on the leafs, a team with already bad defence did not fit. The oilers need a true shutdown guy, Brodie would’ve been a great fit for them. Hopefully they prove me wrong, I wanna see mcdavid do well on them. He’s got rnh, drai, Yamamoto, and Holloway coming up, the team elsewhere needs work.
