I love Freddy and Hyman but you increased the cap and you're still 2 million over.

Even if you DO re-sign Andersen and Hyman, how is that going to work? You're more than $2 million over the cap, and that's assuming that the cap ceiling is going to rise in six months, which I just don't see.

The Leafs could probably find a way to keep one or the other but not both. One is gone the end of this season and short of trading Marner and using the $6m they save to sign both I don't see it being possible.

4.5 for Hyman is just too much. I love him but he's a 3 million dollar player. Anymore and he's detrimental to the cap. Especially as he moves into his 30's.

When I look at Hyman rn I see Gallagher when he signed 3.75mill for 6 years.

Freddie im not concerned with. Markstrom signed 6mill for 6 years if Dubas did the same (not recommended due to age vs. term) the increase would be by a mill which aint bad for us.

With seattle coming in Holl or Kerfoots contracts could be taken giving them room to maneuver around Hyman and Freddies new contracts. Its a year away so lets see what happens

Even if Freddie does not come back Dubas can trade for a new starter like Kuemper or Gibson. Both guys are luxaries on rebuilding teams and especially Anaheim can get a tonne of value for a young goalie with term like Gibson. Sure it will cost toronto a 1st and more but to stay competitive its a bullet worth biting.

I think we have to take some losses in the forwards department in the future to stay competitive (and competent defensively). Prospects signed to ELC's or traded players have to step up to replace players like Hyman, Mikheyev, and Kerfoot when their contracts are up, because we can't afford to give any forwards raises.

If Sandin turns into a #1 superstar (which isn't a certainty), then MAYBE the Leafs can afford Hyman by virtue of letting Reilly go (which would break my heart and I sincerely hope it doesn't happen).

Unless the Leafs reach the Cup Finals, Freddie is no longer a Leaf. Lots of goalie available next summer. Not sure if Hyman gets that money. Think he is rich man outside of hockey, he will sign wherever it suits him, regardless of money (probably the Leafs)
