Why is it dumb?........Marner has superior skating, passing and positional play skills and played Centre Ice with the London Knights and helped Domi, Dvorak and Tkachuk have outstanding junior seasons as his linemates......this might be out of the box thinking like when the Leafs shifted Red Kelly from defence to centre ice which worked out really well for the team with 4 more Stanley Cups.

Dvorak played centre in London. Marner is a RW and has always been.

While Marner did play center in London for a bit, he didn't do very well. His breakout season before being drafted was on the wing and he quickly got moved back to wing in his draft +1 after starting off slowly at center again.
I think this is a great idea, and if it doesn’t work, try defence next, he’d make a great D partner for Rielly. I heard Marner ordered goalie gear too, just in case.
Seriously, it cost nothing to do up this lineup, so no big deal, just realize it isn’t likely.

I think you are correct but I actually flew out to Red Deer to watch Marner play in the Memorial Cup and saw him play some shifts at center ice........I just think he is a such a great skater and passer and reads the play so well and now with him being stronger that he could make the transition to play centre quite effectively.......I also think him taking some shifts at center ice would really screw up the opposing teams in trying to shut down the Leafs Big 4.
I also think the Leafs hiring Manny Malholtra as an Assistant Coach is really going to benefit Marner on improving his face off skills.........Malholtra is done wonders with alot of the younger Canucks and helped Horvat.....and think he is really going to help alot of the younger Leafs forwards bigtime.

I just think it's a needless exercise, JT isn't declining yet. He's fine and with Barb Underhill at his disposal, his skating is going to be fine for a while yet.
