Somehow I feel SJS and prolly the league in general has wisened up to not trading unprotected firsts due to a deal already made with. Just a thought

Why don't you use your own pick to get Lambert?

They're hoping to use that one for Shane Wright

unfortunately i doubt we will be bad enough for either next year. Im anticipating one good UFA add next year and/or a big trade using prospects. As well as guys like JBD, Sanderson, Formenton, Norris being on the team full time. I dont see us being bad

So you think the sharks are trading a pick we could use for Shane Wight or Brad Lambert to get Chris Tierney? Doug is not stupid just unlucky

I doubt the sharks trade any firsts unless it’s at TDL (2020/21 TDL we move only the 21 first then 2021/22 TDL we would move the 22 first). Partly cause of Stutzle but also cause of the uncertainty of the team.

We could be good this year and suck the next (just based on relying on a lot of vets and rookies), but then at the same time we could just as easily suck this year but retool/ sell at TDL for next year and be good with the new moves.

There’s no world where we move the picks unless it’s for a trade we cannot pass on - which Cobra is not.

I’d offer a 2022 second as the max for Tierney (which I doubt Ottawa would take).

I love Tierney and if you accepted our 1st in 21 I would jump on that deal, but never trading a 1st for a player without a good idea where that pick is going! Karlssson jaded us bad
Plus 2022 is going to have more top end talent then the 2020 draft so sharks will not be trading any picks from that draft, rather they probably will be trading 2021 picks for 2022 picks

Josh Norris is actually my 2nd fav prospect after Stutzle right now. I hope he follows a trajectory similar to Nick Suzuki

Hindsight, I don't think Joe Sakic and Pierre Dorion expected gold mines (Girard & Byram for COL ; Norris & Stuetzle for OTT) from shipping disgruntled Matt Duchene and Erik Karlsson to Ottwa and San Jose respectively. Obviously Sens fanbase wasn't pleased but if you look at Avs' social media posts from the time Duchene was shipped to Ottawa, Avs fans weren't pleased with return at the time.

But yeah, both trades kinda reminded the entire league how 1st round pick shouldn't be treated like spare changes and it is still possible trade could have similar outcome as trading the picks of Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton for Phil Kessel. If Pittsburgh pulls off a San Jose move in a competitive division, they will hand a lottery pick to Minnesota.
