Description

I noticed the Habs play one game from the 22nd to 27th of January. If Habs place Price on Taxi there are two teams, Ott and LAL who can claim him, due to cap restrictions? I read that NHL insurance covers one way contracts, so Price would not lose cash. The maximum savings on a being waived based on annual earnings is 1.075 mil. Based on 56 schedule, Habs could add 107,150 to the cap with very little risk in 6 days.
Would this be correct?

1)Edmonton claims him and places Darnell nurse and Mikko Koskinen on waivers.

2) You have to claim mikko Koskinen because you need a 3rd Goalie.

3) Edmonton trades him back for Nick suzuki.

Didn't charles lindgren clear waivers already? he can go directly to taxi if thats the case.

The question is more about adding a player to taxi and if in a scenario where 1.075 annual savings translates to a cap savings of 17,858 daily. It could be Paul Byron, the savings are the same.

The cap relief from the taxi squad is a maximum of 1.075 million. Over 6 Days prorated over the length of the season and taking into account you would be putting a 750k player on the roster again id say you save about 40K.

Price is not retiring from a 65 Million dollar contract lol.

The math is off a bit and insurance doesn’t cover the cost as Price isn’t injured nor do we know if his contract is insured. This shouldn’t be an issue for the Habs though as I believe they profited roughly 80M last year. This also is moot as Price has a NMC so why would he risk it?

Cap relief max = 1,075,000
Days in season = 115
Daily relief ~ 9,350

The six days would be roughly 6*9,348 = 56,086k
