That’s a part of rebuilding, specifically tanking. Making yourself worse to get a better draft pick, it’s very common.

but the team is still good. you gotta trade big pieces like Josi, duschene, ellis, forsberg and NOT sign a good player like iafallo

I feel their window is closing rapidly. They’re competitive but not built for playoffs.

The team is still good, they are an average team. But they are no longer a contender (imo). And they are definitely getting worse

Iafallo kind of young still, Josi isn’t being traded. I think Forsberg might be a big deadline piece (hence why I didn’t trade him,) I wouldn’t trade Ellis yet until there’s a good fit (and no, Toronto isn’t trading Nylander for Ellis for those wondering) and Matty Duches’ contract is way too big to move unless there is big retention

I agree, like the Blackhawks did. And I’ve always been of the mindset that the teams who rebuild the best are the teams that embrace it, not the teams who try to avoid it.

They were on the bubble for making the playoffs in a regular year last year, fighting for the 8th spot. Did not 80 points and were -2 goal differential. That’s mediocre. Pretty much same team this year. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorry, NSH declines all of it. They lose both trades (the BOS proposal isn't close) and none of the UFA signings make sense. You've left them with a less competitive team but not a lottery team, and haven't brought in enough picks/prospects for a proper rebuild.

That would be tempting as a B's fan. Depending on what they do with Krejci, they may have some cap gymnastics. I think Arvi would be a great fit in Boston, as would Ekholm. I would think NSH would want a debrusk -type player back

Idk if ud get much more than what ur getting in the Boston trade. Like I said before in the comments, I tried to keep it pretty realistic, I don’t think there is a good fit for Ellis anywhere else, RoJo and Duchenes contracts r too big and I think Forsberg would be a deadline piece (hence why I didn’t trade him here, but he’d be traded eventually)

In a rebuild mindset, more good prospects and more 1st round picks

Fair but idk if Boston would be willing to give any more. Maybe it isn’t a fit, might be better off trading them separately

You left most of the core in tact so it doesn't send them on a "tanking" trajectory. A full on rebuild would involve trading some high end players like Josi

Arvidsson and Ekholm should each fetch a 1st+ better prospects than Vaakanainen (personally I'm not high on Beecher either). Trading them separateIy makes more sense - BOS doesn't really have the prospects to acquire either of them anyway. I disagree on Ellis - there'd be a lot of interest for him around the league. Yeah, Johansen or Duchene aren't really tradeable right now, but Duchene at least looks a lot better than he did last season so far. Possibly something could be done in the offseason there. If NSH were tearing it down, it wouldn't make sense to keep him, but I agree the deadline is when he'd pull the biggest return.

Yeah I kinda realized that, Ekholm and Arvidsson are better shipped off on their own. I will say as we speak I’m working on a fat teardown on Nashville, I’ll @ u when I post it. I hope it suffices because I’m going to get destroyed in the comments

I'm interested to see it. There's several teams that should be interested in some of the high end players. I've worked on one myself previously but always gave up when i look at the final product and think "man that team will be terrible for 2-3 years" but sometimes that's what it takes to get those high end picks. You don't get a McDavid level player by being good.
