Avs shouldn't be trading their filler guys at this stage. Both Gilbert and Pateryn are perfect for the 8/9 Dman roles, and will likely be rotated into the lineup regularly to keep them in tune and allow EJ to stay fresh.

but they should entertaining trading timmins or graves?

I would not be surprised if Sakic sent Pateryn to Pittsburgh if Rutherford called.

    Just saying.

That’s who I’d want. Just a late pick or whatever

unless there is a move with the jets that gets a Dman and Roslovic from them, cant figure out their roster it seems like a mess right now bc of some covid stuff

Yes, but Pateryn makes some amount of sense over say someone like Gilbert or Graves. He's expendable, them, not so much.

Well, as I've said in previous posts it would only happen if Byram makes an immediate impact, big enough that he takes someones place outright.

As for the depth guys, I don't have a problem trading them, I just find the idea of trading a depth Dman for a late round pick to be rather pointless for the Avs as it wouldn't address a need. Unlike a Timmins/Graves trade which could fix something on the actual roster.

Didn't Mike Sullivan and Ian Cole have issues with each other?

it can't be that bad that they couldnt put up with each other for a few months. pens playoffs and his job could be at stake.

I don't buy it not with the quarantine rules. Isn't there a waiting period after a guy gets traded?
This is the problem with the current set up. You can't make trade because of short term injury.
This is the problem with these sites. They see people injured and go...hey they are looking for help now....
But I don't think that's really true. They got POJ to fill in one role. They will fill the other internally till MP is back, which shouldn't be long.

Or maybe BG has made the call dangling a former pens cup winner, they have a 2nd we don’t have...

Something around Adam Larsson for Rust make any sense? Edmonton can retain a bit and/or chip in another college defenceman they haven't signed yet.

Should Edmonton really be trading a Dman? They need all the help at the back that they can get...

They need effective defencemen. Larsson's just never really worked here. I'd rather see what Bouchard can do.

Edmonton's thing is supposed to be goal scoring, and they haven't really been popping off in that category either. Kinda gambling on the rookie, but adding Rust up front is a genuine positive add for the Oil.

Something like Larsson with $1M retained plus Matt Cairns for Rust and a 2021 7th?

Not sure Edmonton will want to retain anything.
