I actually don't think this is true at all. Krejci's and Debrusk money goes to Kopitar. It is three years after this one. this would be more of a deadline deal.
Yes, it hurts them on their d, but they will have 24m remaining to sign players. With the Seattle draft coming, it stops them from losing one of those guys for nothing.
Kase 3m, Ritchie 3m, Rask 6m - 12m would leave them with 12m to sign someone.
They retain their Centers (Beecher, Studnicka) as Kopitar and Bergeron age.
They would have probably the two best defensive centers in the league, Their D would be fine. McDermid aside; wolff, achan, zech all seem like they might be serviceable sooner than later.
It's also my belief Steen and Lauko will be more productive than debrusk.
I think thats the problem, you're outcome is based on a lot of hopes. Not necessarily long-shots, but not normal assumptions either if that makes sense.
"Debrusk is a top 6 forward" is a fact
"Studnicka will become a top 6 forward" is a reasonable assumption (might not happen, but most likely will)
"Lauzon will become an Elite dman" is a LONG SHOT (always a chance, but most likely wont happen)
"wolff, achan, zech all seem like they might be serviceable sooner than later"
"It's also my belief Steen and Lauko will be more productive than debrusk"
Those are both hopes, they could happen based on how things are going, but they are not likely by any means.
Going based on what we can reasonably assume right now, this is a really bad move for the bruins.
You lose Debrusk, Urho, and Lauzon to barely upgrade from Krecji, screw urself on cap, and downgrade the defense.
