Honest Canuck Fan - Not Reactionary

Created by: Wqrrior
Team: 2020-21 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 7, 2021
Published: Feb. 7, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kevin Bieksa is the first person on the media to properly summarize this team. He didn't just say what the fans want to hear, like literally every other person on media has done to this point.

Canucks fans are reactionary. They don't care about the past, or the future. They care about right now. Instead of looking at the team from a logistical perspective, they see what is happening and not how it is happening.

Jim Benning formed this team bearing in mind his past mistakes with the goal of the future in mind - to work around a tight cap picture to ice, what although isn't an improved team, is one with the future in mind. It's the coach's job to utilize to the maximum the guys he has on his roster to their full.

Bieksa commented:
- where's the energy... the pushback... they're taking the L without making anyone pay to take the L. No slashing, no stickwork, no drive to win.
This team has a losing mentality and they aren't playing to their full. Chemistry is invisible. Nobody cares to win. Green is stubborning using the same tactics that worked last year without merging them to the plan this year.

This isn't a benning thing. These guys aren't putting their all into their play.

Anyone stating Fire Benning is clueless and has no clue any of the innerworkings of this game.

Why the re-post?

I never made any literal trades on that post, this time I did.

I see a bunch of Canuck posts all originating around the "Fire Benning" trend, so I think this needs to be heard - don't follow the crowd; look at things critically and see why its bad.

This time it's a literal attempt to piece together a roster. Jarnkrok is a solid locker room guy, that although older, can fill the void that Virtanen has thrown the towel in on here. Nashville in return can spark Jake and help him turn into the player he was meant to be.

Fire both him and Green. While Benning has made some good draft picks, he has made several really bad signings and the team isn't good. He absolutely deserves a share of the blame.

What if, and this is just hypothetical, but what if Benning hasn’t actually done a good job? Can he be criticized in that scenario?

Goaltender analytics will tell you why there is such a big difference in the team....

Markstrom is actually just that much better than Holtby unfortunately. He is also that much better than Rittich. Which is Why CGY got him.

I’m honestly just not a big Virtanen guy, so I would not do this deal. I’d rather trade Jarnkrok for picks as well since NSH already has an over abundance of middle 6 wingers

This has never happened to a forward in Nashville before.

Seriously, no offense but it really seems like Nashville is where guys go to see their offense dry up, something just doesn't seem right there the last few years.

Yeah... even Markstrom would be hopeless in our net right now.

Sure. I am not defending his case overall - I think his job needs to be reviewed - but this offseason.

My biggest gripe is: These canucks fans all want to blame and point their fingers.... if we fired Benning tomorrow, you are still icing the same team of demotivated players. It doesn't change anything. The locker room is sour, so the team needs a boost in the room. I do not think the reason for this years incompetence is Benning - his other moves in question can be reviewed at a better time. The players are not bringing the same love of the game that they had last year.
