Description

I was pretty excited when Jimmy Vesey signed with the Leafs in the offseason. Thought he would be this big fast aggressive power forward who'd win puck battles and score a few goals at the net front. So far, he's been a pretty big let down. He seems to be a really clumsy player whose hands and feet are moving too quickly for his brain. Though he's still playing physical, I don't think he's making enough of an impact to stay in the lineup.

I wonder if Washington would be interested in swapping him with Conor Sheary. I feel Sheary would be a good fit in Toronto. He's fast, skilled and is a really effective forechecker. His play driving analytics have always been pretty good. He also has experience playing alongside elite talent, in 99 career games on Crosby's wing, he's got 77 points.

Yeah I looked at Sheary’s stats at Evolving Wild & he’s actually doing not bad compared to his teammates.

I feel Vesey is a pretty talented player, he just hasn’t been a good fit with the Leafs. Maybe a heavy team like Washington would suit him better.

I want him for the exact reasons you mentioned; fast, skilled, forechecking monster. If he can find a way to effective on one of the top two lines, which is feasible, it would be fantastic. And I can't imagine the price to get him would be very high if he were available. It's a low risk, high reward move.

I’d do it in a heartbeat. Sheary is a proven playoff performer and vesey is very meh.

Yep Sheary’s stature & playing style is kinda similar to Gallagher/Arvidsson, he just isn’t as good. I even heard his analytics in Buffalo were pretty good during the limited sample size w/Eichel.

Sheary wasn’t very good during the 2017 playoffs (neither were most of his teammates), they won that cup by being opportunistic IMO. But the rest, he’s been excellent at forechecking & driving possession.

Yes I agree. Theoretically Sheary seems to be the type of guy that would thrive on TOR.
