If we trade Fiala and Kaprizov for Draisaitl, we have no one for Draisaitl to play with...

Unlikely KK signs for less than 5 on a bridge but I think the value skews a bit too much toward EDM here. Maybe KK or Fiala, a 1st, and a lesser prospect?

All that said, probably zero to no interest doing this from MIN perspective.

If you're trying to talk me out of this deal you're doing a really good job.

Yes because teams quite often trade the reigning heart and art ross winner that's signed for the next 5 years... Edmonton doesn't touch this

Are you guys feeling alright? You want to turn down an offer for a Hart trophy winner centre, essentially exactly what the wild need?

Not for that price. 1 center and no wings is just as bad as all wings and no center.

It's Leon Draisitl! And it's not like the wingers are Atremi Panarin and Mitch Marner or anything.

This offer is a steal for the wild. Neither of those guys are game breakers to the same extent as Drais.

I think Edmonton has proven that you need more than Leon Draisaitl! to make the playoffs and win there. They even have Connor McDavid! in addition to Leon Draisaitl! and have found no success.

That is widely believed to be because hockey is a team sport.

I also get the feeling you don't know anything about Kaprizov or Fiala beyond what you read on Elite Prospects or wherever you get stats from.

Well, I mean, the oilers essentially have only 2 players on their team. Take out Mcd and Drais and you are left with a team worse than the redwings. The wild have also proven that if you ice a 3c as a 1c you don't make the playoffs. They NEED a 1c.

I get he’s the reigning mvp, but if he wasn’t on a team with McDavid he wouldn’t be as offensively productive.

Edmonton has no defense, which works to some extent but they won’t win in the playoffs till they play all 200 ft. Toronto is finally doing that after so many years bounced in the first round and will probably make serious waves.

Drais wouldn't be much of a gamebreaker in MN with nobody to play with. Fiala and Kaprizov (maybe Zucc?) are the only FWDs that play a skill game in MN. The rest are either the grinder types that can't make the pretty/fancy plays, or FWDs that should be sitting in the pressbox. It would be like BUF with Eichel and nothing else all these years.

I'm not saying the value is bad, it's bad for MN as a team overall.

Does any team in the North really have a defense though? The games are fun to watch, but I find myself thinking these team have no d-zone structure way too often.

I know Toronto apparently has been pushing a full 200ft game. Last night they benched Nylander in the 2nd cause he wasn’t putting in the effort for defense. I assume that’s why they are so far ahead in the standings.

The top 3 teams in the North are the ones that have played the most games against OTT so far. TOR is good but they are middle of the pack in GA so far this year. They (and all of the North) get to completely avoid any team that I consider a good defensive team.
