Description

Idea was suggested in "Let's Talk About Jack Eichel & The Montreal Canadiens… (Habs Trade Rumours 2021—Buffalo Sabres NHL)" by Legorocks99 on youtube.

To make the money work between the Habs and the Sabres, I added Shea Weber.

Obviously, an Eichel trade with Montreal would never happen.

But, let's speculate, just for fun :)

Now, I know you have your issues with this trade.

And I know you're ready to dissect everything and tear this trade apart :D

But, here are some benefits for Buffalo:

1. Leadership void in Buffalo is filled immediately by Shea Weber.

2. At no point during the rest of his contract does Shea Weber have a NMC, a NTC or any money paid in signing bonuses.

3. Shea Weber is paid a lot less money in actual salary than Eichel, something that owners in a small hockey market like the Pegulas would love.

4. Both Nick Suzuki and Kaiden Guhle are at the start of their NHL careers and have not yet reached their full potential.

no i wouldnt. Caufield, Suzuki, Mete, Bryon, Druin, 1st for eichel and like mittlestadt/montour.

Buffalo dosent want to trade eichel, to get him out of buffalo its going to be a overpayment

No way they would retain $5M for 6 years AND take on Weber for another 5 years at almost $8M in his declining years.

The math doesn't work. Montreal has less than $300,000 in cap space, so only a trade involving Shea Weber would be feasible.
