@mondo I'm a bit disappointed in you. I didn't think you would buy into the hype of trading Dermott like this site has seen so much of during this season.

Thought you understood that having depth on D has been paying off so far this season. It's the most depth this D-core has had in a while.

Moving Dermott would suck but I think that's the direction they'd go if they look to upgrade in the bottom six. Leaf's are pretty bare on assets that would garner real interest, especially on this site.

Toronto's still got Lehtonen and Sandin for the bottom left spot.

At this point I'd rather trade prospects/picks to improve the bottom six than to minus from the blueline.

The injury bug could just as easily hit the D and suddenly I'm alot less confident in first year NHL'er Lehtonen and a young Sandin.

This team needs to win playoffs series and if keeping the D-core competitive makes that happen, so be it.

I don't disagree, but Toronto will need to clear salary in order to obtain him so one of the roster guys will have to go, but the expendable players aren't really interesting or attractive. Ideally, I'd rather do something like the 1st + Engvall + prospects and/or picks.

I'm not that interested in Jarnkrok at all, certainly not at this price.

Big overpayment for a nice, but really unneeded player. And certainly the Leafs aren't trading an NHL capable Dman without getting one in return.

More obsession with an OK player from a poor team.

from what I have heard from Friedman Dubas tried to get Granlund and Haula during last offseason. Granlund had mutual interest to come but we couldnt get the money to work. As for Haula just didnt have the space. Friedman thinks there is a potential for 2 different trades to potentially happen with Nashville. One being Dubas goes in and makes a splash for Forsberg (retention would happen) or the other being to get Granlund and Haula (with retention) . However with Engvalls emergence as a solid 3c things may change as to what our deadline priorities are.

What about all the so-called accrued cap space the Leafs are racking up? Yeah I understand Engvall or someone else who makes a million+ on the forward group would have to be moved in part of any trade... but this accrued cap space, does it not afford the Leafs to add at the TDL while taking on some cap?

I thought that's how it works...so while maybe a team may need to retain some salary, it doesn't have to be a monstrous amount??

Anyway, I still think it's a bad idea to trade a D.

Nashville Accepts. This is a great deal IMO to the right team Jarny can fetch a first and a NHL player
