Kerfoot and Malgin won't have much value to NSH. The picks and Liljegren are nice, but it's not enough to get Forsberg. I also don't really see how Jarnkrok 50% retained features into this deal -- seems like NSH is giving him away for free.

Really doesn't make sense fo the Leafs. Losing Kerfoot, and then having Jarnkrok and Forsberg sitting for weeks.
Liljegren is certainly going to be needed next season as the Leafs can lose three players this summer, and Liljegren might be needed now.


I like how Nashville fans don't think Kerfoot wouldn't help them. He would be their 2nd best centre.

I like the trade but it would require more from Toronto. Likely two 1st round picks and possibly multiple prospects.

For the Wings it would be 3M cash & 3M cap space next year plus the prorated portion this year it at TDL. In respect to the Staal trade as a baseline, it is 3.2M cash plus filled a roster spot so subtract out a million for the replacement player so roughly ~2.2M cash. We’re looking at roughly 4M on this deal if at TDL so I’d imagine the compensation would be higher. The Marleau trade probably isn’t the best comparison but it’s still dead money like this in which it was 4M cash for the buyout, pre-pandemic but the dead cap hit was a single year and 6-6.5M IIRC.
