Caps are stacked on D, especially the left side. They don't need Murray. Caps also really like Fehervary.

Yep. Yep. Cool. This fan also really likes Siegenthaler and Alexeyev, and was surprised to see that someone who knows the Caps have three NHL-ready LHD prospects behind their four NHL LHD would try to trade them a defenseman, rather than the depth center I could see them trying to pick up at the deadline, so they don't have to rush McMichael up if they get into injury trouble in the playoffs. Given that some Devils fans are talking about trading a young center, these two teams could probably work something out, but I agree it won't be for Murray this year.

This is just my opinion, I'd like to resign both of them. Money shouldn't be an issue since we've got the cap space. Murray has looked pretty good when he's been healthy and overall I love Palmieri's game. What do you guys think?

It all depends who we draft and who progresses. I like Murray and Palmieri but if we draft a LHD that is NHL ready with our 1st round pick, Murray may not be needed. If Holtz/Mercer is ready next year, we may not need Palmieri. But I would love to keep them both, preferably Palmieri.

I know Smith has passed Butcher on the depth chart, do you think we trade Butcher at or before the deadline?

Yes. He still has a decent amount of value so they should trade him at the deadline when teams are looking for LHD

I doubt it. Bahl is a huge-shut down type defensemen. Maybe Bahl could work well with Subban on the bottom pair.

Do we trade Kulikov to? I think he's been. As of right now, if we brought him back for another year, I wouldn't be disappointed.

Do you think Seattle might take Subban? I like Subban but holy crap, he's fallen off hard.

I think he should let him go. Make room for the younger guys. I wouldn't be mad if he came back.

If they take him for free then yes. If we have to pay then no. I think he could definitely go to Seattle for free though.

I think those three guys should be targets for NJD. Devils have plenty of offensive d-man currently and in their system, but could add more defensive LHD. I added Murray since I thought Caps were short a d-man.

Depth centers (after Hughes, Hischier)
Zajac - Old-timer of the team, pending UFA, he'd come the cheapest. Not much offense these days, but adequate defensively, face-offs, etc.
Zacha - they have been playing him at wing on top-6 lines, which is why his scoring is up. Can play almost anywhere in lineup, C or either wing, 1st thru 4th line.
McLeod - has really emerged in 4c checking line role this year. Has great straight-line speed and has some more offensive upside.
Sharangovich - kid kind of came outta nowhere this year. Tore up KHL in 1st half. He is probably the front-runner for future 3c if he can improve face-offs
Merkley - Good offensive center, ton of energy, but having hard time getting in lineup. Probably 2nd cheapest after Zajac.
Kuokkanen - Probably more of winger, but has played a lot of Center. Hard to tell if he will be physical player, skilled player...shows both at times.

See a match?

What about Zajac? Think we bring him back? I really like Mcleod's game and I'm not sure if Zacha is gonna stay LW. I'd like Zacha as our 3rd C behind Nico and Jack.

Only in hockey trade. Would have to return someone we want to protect in expansion draft.

Kulikov has been playing well, and at his salary, he may be easiest to move at deadline.

Subban has been much better than last year...and actually will be hard to lose him unless Reilly Walsh is ready.

You think we just tough it out with Subban's contract and hope once its over, Walsh is ready to jump in? It's not like we're hurting for cap space.

I think the contract is a sunk cost at this point. We are in great cap position. Just want him to play like a #2 RHD, which he has done this year. If Reilly Walsh comes up and performs by end of this year or beginning or next, that would seem like logical transition. Very similar skillsets.

Neither.

Murray would be 2nd/5th type of value. Palmieri would be 1st low to mid prospect.

Together 1st/3rd/Kase/ok prospect.

No way they move JD or Stud for short term pieces.
