Hawks who are eying the playoffs won't go for that trade. Again so what if makes the Leafs best offensive core, just weaken the defence.

it barely weakens it tho, they have Lehtonen + Sandin who could step in for Dermott. It's definitely worth it for a top 6 cost controlled LW

What are the Hawks getting that improves their roster right now? or even replaces Kubalik in a couple years? There is nothing that that would be considered high value in a trade for an extremely high value player.

A late 1st round pick in this year's shallow draft is nothing more then a bag of magic beans. Hawks have plenty of bottom 4 LHD prospects/players, Dermott is nothing special amongst the group they already have in place.

I mentioned this in another post, but Kubalik's value right now is similar to Nylander. Similar stats, almost even this year, cheap cap hit on a bridge deal and a RFA that will take him to the end of his career. Nylander, while a better player perhaps, is a UFA in 4 years and carrying almost double the cap hit. Think what it would take to get Nylander and it's pretty close to what it would take to get Kubalik.

No but replacing Engvall with Robertson probably does.

It's an improvement, but Hawks don't have a need for Dermott (already have Beaudin, Carlsson, Zadarov, Vlasic, Kalynuk, De Haan) and definitely no interest in Engvall.

Robinson and a 3rd round pick won't get Kubalik. Robinson and a 1st maybe might generate some interest but I wouldn't touch that late 1st in this year's draft.

Robertson. On a phone? Auto correct? I've been there. And while it's better...it's Robertson, the 1st (because you're 100% right...LATE 1sts are magic beans), + likely a cap casualty like Kerfoot. Kerfoot isn't a complete waste like TOR fans on here suggest. He's not elite, but not a waste either.

Kerfoot could potentially replace Janmark next season I guess, but given our depth at center (Toews, Dach, Strome, Kampf) and all our bottom 6 wingers (Kurashev, Suter, Carpenter, Hagel, Highmore, Janmark, Soderberg) just don't see how Kerfoot fits? Suter is slotting up in the top 6 but that's because we have a hole with injuries, not sold yet that he's a top 6 winger...more of a stop gap if we don't acquire one. If we lose Kubalik, we have a big hold in the top 6.

I'm not opposed to trading Kubalik, but it's going to come with a big price and a package that would have to include a top line LHD younger player/prospect which is our biggest hole to take the load off of Keith putting him on the 2nd line as a #3.

I wouldn't even take that. Would much rather just keep kubalik. I see no incentive to trade him unless it's in a package for a #1 LD

Well if the logic if the unproven Lehtonen steps in playing top 6 minutes is a solution, I can't really go for it. Sandin is out with broken foot.

hypothetically lets say he is traded to toronto. would it not start with either sandin or robertson? i also agree not a good team for this trade. but those would at least peak the interested.
