A trade I saw and A trade I made up

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 11, 2021
Published: Mar. 11, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Overall not a realistic post... but it wouldn’t be the worst.
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Domi, Max
Additional Details:
It seems like an overpayment for what Domi has been this year... but I wonder if we take it betting on a bounce back season. Honestly don’t know why Columbus would do this and that probably says enough.
CBJ
  1. Zadorov, Nikita
  2. 2022 4th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2271515
2.
CHI
  1. Bean, Jake
  2. Martinook, Jordan
Additional Details:
I really like Kurashev, but I also really like Bean. I think there is expansion benefits for Carolina, and they get two very good players for their cup run.
CAR
  1. Kurashev, Philipp
  2. Söderberg, Carl
Additional Details:
Kurashev is exempt from expansion.

Kurashev needs more time to prove himself. Doubt that hes moved for Bean who is finally looking good. Martinook is a great locker room guy i don’t see why they move on from him.

I would prefer Kurashev over Bean. Why are we trading for another D prospect that's ready for the NHL now? We can't find enough ice time for all of Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, and Carlsson already.

They probably lose Bean for nothing in expansion, so they might be willing to make a bet on Kurashev now idk.

Kurashev needs more consistency. Marty way not produce the most but he's our energy guy. I don't know why everyone thinks we want to give up Bean. Soderberg is sort of useless. No deal.

We have a solid D core for a long time if the pairings are Beaudin- Murphy, Bean- Mitchell, Keith Boqvist.

My take is expansion draft is going to lose you Bean anyways, so might as well get some value. If you wanted to keep Marty, I get it.

Yeah, I mean we might need to trade Bean anyways. It sucks but yeah on a stacked team, you gotta let some go. Kurashev was just not the type of guy I had in mind. But, yes we do need to keep Marty, at least for the rest of the season.

Gotcha, what kind of player did you have in mind though?

I honestly don't know, with Paquette, we are pretty set in all aspects. Maybe toss in a pick with him for a guy like Rakell and Hakanpaa cause for some reason ducks fans have him in like every trade proposal and for some defensive depth.

As a Columbus fan I don’t hate it, if you make the 4th a 3rd I’d say deal, because the likely hood is that we lose Zadorov in expansion and could have easily protected Domi, though I feel they might use Domi to keep Robinson, Stenlund and others.

It’s definitely interesting, I’m not sold on the idea though. Glad to see a Columbus fans opinion on it.

Alright, personally I would be wary of Rakell as he hasn’t been as productive in recent years but he would be a solid pickup. Would you be able to protect him in expansion?

It’s a low risk high reward move for Chicago and really has no upside for Columbus unless the pick turns into something. Zadorov would be 3rd pair and exported to Seattle in the expansion draft, and most certainly be the pick from Columbus. That being said Domi hasn’t fit in Columbus, but nobody in Columbus has looked good recently anyways, outside of the very few exceptions (Atkinson, Bjorkstrand) even Laine is struggling right now.

With Gardiner back injury flaring up again, can’t trade Bean away even if he is a guy who is lost to expansion. If Bean is traded, and another d man isn’t brought back he are staring at no depth and Joakim Ryan being an every night player.

Expansion worries can be figured out. This season is about cup or bust...

Maybe we can work something out after the season is over then.

Yes, we should actually just go for cup and deal with the expansion worries after. The question is, Will we resign Dougie? If not, then we just protect Slavin, Pesce, Bean, but if we do, then we got problems, but that's to be taken care of in the offseason.

BTW - since expansion occurs prior to UFA deadline, Dougie would have to be protected. Seattle can draft his UFA rights and negotiate an extension.

Don't need Bean with Beaudin, Kalynuk, Carlsson, Vlassic plus Zadarov (assuming we lose De Haan to trade or expansion draft). Bean, nor any of our younger players/prospects, are never going to be a first line guy on the left side and that is our biggest gap right now so no need to add to the logjam in the bottom 4. Kurshev is way more valuable to the team as such.

Beaudin is first pair and Bean is 2nd pair.

Unlikely Beaudin is first pairing material. He's going to be a solid 2nd liner either a #3 or #4 IMO. Think more Jammer then Keith comparing to our cup years.
