Why are Janmarks possession stats so bad this year

Description
He's always been decent until this year.

If Chicago slips into seller mode could be a decent lower cost acquisition

Gives them depth in a guy who can play 3c or top 9 wing like kerfoot and spell Thornton for a rest or just injury protection

Advanced stats are overrated. The eye test should tell you all you need to know about his game.

I think he has been good on the PP and he has an unsustainable shooting percentage. Leafs are better off going for iafallo

Okay well how has he been by eye test? I have not watched much non North Division this weird year

That's why I was posting to ask how he was by eye test

Can Iafallo also do 3c? To me that's the key for roster flexibility. Everyone's focussed on top 6 LW but I think the way Keefe is doing it is to have a flexible c there so I like the options ankther c/w offers.

If he is cheap he shouldn't cost Abramov and two mid pick. He's a rental too. A third would do the trick.

I have no idea lol - I just looked at his underlying numbers a few weeks ago and they were really good.

It's the retention that increases the cost

Literally -6.9 rel as I type this lol wow

Not nice 😐

Mostly the the dropoff from Radulov Pavelski as linemates last year to Soderberg Kurashev this year but maybe just a down year on top of that too

EDIT:

Also could be age decline I mean he always seems younger but turned 28 not too long ago

Ya but you see what Buffalo got for Staal and you model after that to a similar calibre player. A third and a sixth or a third and a lower end prospect makes perfect sense. Abramov is good too. He lit up the Q last season, and was very impressive in the WJC.

He is still operating at a .5points/game. Not bad. Good work well with better lineman in TOR.

He’s a solid middle 6 guy. If you really need offensive help you could do better but for the price he’s been a great two way players and way outperformed what hawks fans thought he would bring in terms of goal scoring

No idea honestly, he’s looked fine for the most part and has even had some flashes of brilliance at times. He was supposed to be a really good defensive forward too, so my guess is that his teammates (Kane, Kurashev, Strome, etc.) are bringing him down and it’s reflecting poorly on his CF and xGF

Worth is so hard to say. Market determines worth. I think this year rentals would be worth more than usual as caps tighter and less sellers so there are less players that are affordable cap wise. That shoule increase return.

The one week quarantine though can decrease return

Really, well good luck with that. He has cracked thirty points once in his career. No team would spend that on Janmark lol unless CHI retains and they are 100% confident he resigns. If Eric Staal has half retained and BUF gets a third and a sixth, good luck getting a second for Mattias Janmark, what a joke of an 'analyst' claim. Kerfoot would be worth a second rounder straight-up if thats the case lol.

I don't need luck with anything, I don't play or work for the blackhawks.

Jamark is on pace for 41 points (23 goals) if this season was a normal 82 game season. He was only utilized as a defensive player for Dallas on the 4th line, Hawks have shown he's not only that but can light the lamp, and for a rental only the current season matters not what he did one, two or three years ago. Furthermore, you clearly don't understand the player if you are concerned mostly with his point production (from prior years nonetheeless) as Janmark is a two way defensive forward known for his physical defensive play and PK first and foremost.

Again, there are plenty of analysts who agree Janmark is likely to pull a 2nd if traded, including Canada's own Elliott Friedman on one of the Hawks podcasts last Friday. Go argue with the professionals, as I'm not interested in debating opinions with someone who's on a public chat forum with a snarky arrogant attitude who doesn't understand the player citing points for a defensive forward to discredit value.

The quarantine thing is real and a good point. Probably will see US Teams trading with US teams more for tier 2 or 3 players this season because of it.

Ok great. Hawks will hold onto him and he'll walk in the offseason. Buyers markets make value of players diminish. Two way forwards are exactly the hardest to find if you are on a good team. I don't see Janmark pulling a second round pick because he will be used for 2 months so the investment has little core value in equality, but maybe he will but you see Staal go for a box of cookies compared to what Elliot Friedman said (second rounder for Staal according to Friedman), so maybe don't take an analysts words to heart because business has a different climate this year in the NHL.

Brian Boyle was traded twice and both times returned a second round draft pick and didn’t sign extensions with said team. Janmark currently has 750k on his contract and will be lower at TDL so it’s not like we’re talking millions here or even talking about cap/cash going back.
