A Leaf trade without Kerfoot

Created by: Faulk_my_Dzingel
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 1, 2021
Published: Apr. 1, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hypothetically what if Andersen is done for the season? That frees up some cap space.
Korp hasn't had the greatest year. A couple good games in March. A tandem of him and Campbell seems quite reasonable. I stand by my regular statements that Jenner is the missing piece.

Is this enough to get it done? Sorry if I offend the Robertson is the next Ovechkin lovers. At this point he needs a lot of work. He may also be the next Bracco. I'm willing to take that risk for a potential cup win.

Yeah, Tampa was giving up Top 10 picks for those guys. You're really not good in these discussions, are you chum.

Robertson was drafted in the 2nd round dude. Even if he was born later nothing is telling us that he would have been gone in that range. Kaliyev had outstanding numbers and got drafted in the 2nd. On top of that Robertson is a dwarf. Remember how Caufield dropped just because he was small? Well Robertson would have receive the same exact fate. Leafs fans should really calm down. They want everything but are not willing to pay the price. Pathetic...

Exactly. Coleman took a 1st and a great prospect...

So acquire Jenner on his own.

If Leafs got Korpisalo, which goalie gets protected in exp draft?

Because either one would be tempting for Seattle. So two months later you're right back in the same boat looking for goalie to be a 1B.

And according to you that's going to cost Sandin+.

Robertson >>> Jack Quinn, and he's less than a month older than him. And I say this as a big Quinn fan considering he grew up 15 min down the road from me.

And please point out a goalie trade that has cost this much in the last 7 or 8 years.

I'll wait.

Do you even look at trade history? Or just what people post on here and what Darren Dreger says for value? Also if you think Jenner is only valued as a third liner you have clearly never watched him play... Thanks for the chat. I will agree with you on your earlier statement of Robertson could pan out. But I'll take the deep playoff run chance any day over a prospect maybe panning out.

Lehner on his own got a 2nd and Subban. You need to understand though that he was an upcoming UFA and was paid waaaaaay more than Korpisalo is rn. On top of that you also get a decent middle six center for playoff run. Korpisalo is also signed for another year. Know your hockey man...

Seems like an average team average players are so much better than the Leafs. Korpisalo has worse stats than Hutch this season. And Jenner is not a good centre. Those two players aren't just difference makers.
Leaf need Robertson and his ELC contract at some time.

Do I even look at trade history??

From the guy wanting to pay through the nose for a goalie. Funny.

I like Jenner, he'd probably be a decent fit. He's not a natural C any more though. He's full out admitted he likes the W more so he's better on the forecheck.

2nd and a B prospect is my ceiling for him, and I'd be absolutely shocked if the cost was way more than that.

Let's not forget, Coleman had 21 g already when he got traded (in 57 games). Also, last year was normal, there was a bidding war for his services. I guarantee the Leafs were in on him.

This year, it's more of a buyers market. Flat cap effects prices (GM's are wary of committing $$ to 3rd liners), and owners are scared of spending real $$. So I really don't see there being alot of bidding wars at this deadline.

Just my 2 cents.

(although you could pull up some trade values from the last pandemic/flat cap era if you want to prove me wrong, oh wait...)

The fact he's signed for another year hurts more than helps. Have you heard of that team called the Seattle Kraken? Korpisalo would have to be protected, exposing the better goalie.

Do you mean former Vezina finalist Lehner??? Oh yeah, that's the same thing. Korpisalo's 3 good playoff games that time certainly puts him in that category.

I don't know if you should keep trying here, you are really just spinning your wheels.

It helps to sometimes think things through.

You know what man. I usually agree with your posts on here. So for the sake of things I'm gonna bow out. I believe these two players would contribute to a Stanley Cup this year and am willing to sacrifice some future. But this is why I am arguing with you over a forum and not managing the Toronto Maple Leaf's or even a Peewee AA Team.

You meant Barclay Goodrow and Blake Coleman right? I mean that's the real market. You need to give to receive. Everything is not sweet sugar in your mouth darling

Those are the extreme outliers though. And neither of those guys got a guy like Robertson as a return.

Tampa made both those trades for cost control which I'll give you Jenner provides to a degree. But not as cheap

Also Barclay trade had a late first going one way and a high third going the other.

So the difference in value of say 25th (obviously ended up being 31st) and say 67th would have been about a 40th.

So in a sense the value was a high second

Robertson is viewed as a top 15-30 prospect in the nhl. Foote is viewed as a 70-100 type guy.

Every fan base is like that. There are just more leafs fans out there.

Robertson is a very good prospect and deserves that. Is he too 10 in the league or something? No.

But he's probably 25-30th in the league, give or take.

Well see where he pans out. This trade makes no sense to the leafs as it's based on korpisalo being way better than he is.

The leafs should be willing to spend when necessary but the value isn't here for this trade.

Jenner has 19g in his last 107 games.

And there's a pandemic. And there's a flat cap. And Jenner is more expensive. And Holl would have to be exposed to Seattle if they got him (or he would).

And, and, and.

I mean I can think of a lot of other teams that have way more interesting goalie than Campbell would be (Not saying he's bad though...) Vanecek, Allen, Driedger, Khudobin.... You should be worried on Holl instead of Campbell man. And you know what I just love to trigger some Leafs fans you know. All the time you're always crying for nothing. Khudobin is 100 yo, Driedger is a UFA, Allen should be protected, because you couldn't give away that Price contract for free lol.

At least a smart GM would protect Allen, so MB probably does the opposite.

Nolan Foote isn't half the prospect Robertson is. One of those two scored a goal a game in the OHL as an 18 year old and it wasn't Foote.
