Not really.

TOR isn't moving Sandin for a 4th liner and a goalie who already once failed in Toronto.

VGK don't really need yet another wingers.

Svechnikov was just waived. He has virtually no trade value. And Nemeth is not worth this much.

Andersen and Sandin are completely off limits for Toronto. Leafs management has already said the only way they're trading for a goalie is if it's a massive improvement on what they have now (Campbell and Andersen), and Bernier is not that. When Andersen is healthy, he's still a top 10 goalie in the league and Leafs management is fully behind him. Sandin is one of the few untouchables in any trade for them. They'll have no interest at all in this deal.

No way they part with sandin just to replace Anderson. I like ryan too but ita probably just a 3rd. He hasnt been so good teams are gonna fight for him. I can't see washington giving 2 low pics for those 2. Maybe like a 4th for nemeth I could see.

Sometimes guys getting waived and clearing improves their trade value. It allows their new team to move them freely between the AHL/Taxi squad and the NHL easier for 30 days. Plus trading a player back doesn't change the contracts number for a team. It happened with Toronto and Galchenyuk this year.

Won't really change the fact at his cost if he wasn't claimed from waivers, GMs don't hold him in high value. Certainly not in the value of justifying such a haul for a 3rd pair D.

Let's talk about VGK. They're 11th in the league for GF. I think Ryan could step in for Roy to help from that aspect, and really help out the secondary scoring.

ESvechnikov currently has a points per game rate similar to all the best Detroit forwards. Is it a small sample size thing? Likely in part. Does he still deserve a lineup spot and a chance to see if he can sustain that rate or close to it? Absolutely. No trade yet. ☮

He'd only need 9 pts in next 23 games to tie Zadina

He's doing that in only 11 minutes per game no less

Bernier posted a cumulative 2.7 GSAA in Toronto behind very weak teams defensively; how so failure?

His career has been turning lemons in lemonade

Not the sweetest lemonade; but still impressive

Well again, using Galchenyuk as the prime example: Galchenyuk was under the maximum allowed slalary to bury in the minors, he wasn't performing well at all and was seen to likely be out of the NHL, and he cleared waivers. Carolina still got a decent prospect for him. Toronto came out and said that it helped that he cleared waivers and that a contract spot didn't have to be used. So clearing waivers pretty clearly adds a little value

Ok - fail is a bit wrong term. But he didn't exactly succeed in there. And he isn't exactly a fan favorite of theirs. No playoff games on his name there.

They traded Korshkov because he said he wouldn't return to Toronto anymore. They basically got Galchenyuk for free. Like a waiver claim - without the waiver part.

Being not waived might raise your value from a completely valueless asset to a low pick. But the raise is nothing significant, really.

I reckon they acquired the guy just to be a filler player of sorts in case of injuries. They did not acquire the guy to have an actual important role there.

2013-14: blame defense
2014-15 & 15-16: no offense (leading scorers were 61 & 45 pts those years, respectively)

Well yes, they sucked back then. But if I recall correctly, they acquired Andersen specifically to replace Bernier as they felt like he wouldn't be the guy to trust on.

Leafs really don't need Bernier as long as they Campbell and Hutchinson (and Andersen). Yea Glendening would be nice but not that price.
