Also don't know why people are discounting his performance in Buffalo. Being bad on a bad team doesn't mean you're good. Maybe the reduced minutes and better assignments will let Q get something meaningful out of him, but his track record isn't great even from an individual standpoint.
FWIW, Montour has been playing on average 17 minutes a night and is usually sent out in the offensive zone, about 72% of the time. This looks like the main reason why he's gotten his career high season; in Buffalo and Anaheim he'd be closer to 50%.
Regardless it's looking great for the Panthers so far. Reduced minutes and better assignments allowed them to get something meaningful out of him.
