Not stealing from anyone when both teams could easily sign Hyman and Armia for those contracts respectively.

It’s very unlikely that the habs bring back Armia. This is definitely a fair contract, and probably what he’d get on an open market.

If Hyman comes in at that, Leafs resign him. Going to need to pay big if you want him cause I can guarantee lots of other teams will be in on him and offering more

I think IF they can swing it, they would bring him back. Unfortunately I don't think we can keep him but like you said the value of his contract is fair.

Nothing like fixing the team with overpaid free agents in true Jim Benning fashion.

They might bring him back, but I’d say he’s pretty low on the priority list. The fact that he’s a right shot who can only play the right side doesn’t help either.

I find it weird that CapFriendly lists him as a LW\RW when he is strictly RW, it leads to many a debate with other fanbases when the information is not correct.

It’s because he played 1 practice as LW during one day in this year’s training camp, and I guess that just happened to be the info that the people running the website saw, while they didn’t see things like Byron playing C, KK playing RW, or Perry playing LW which actually happened for multiple games.

Both players would be very good adds. It’s not like he’s overpaying for 4th liners, these are legit top 9 Guys with scoring threat. I don’t think either contract presented is an overpayment.

    what?

The leafs are capable of paying him that, he wants to stay in TO so you would have to pay him more then that to steal him from the leafs.

Although right now in talks, Hyman's side is asking for a deal closer to what Gallagher got (6 years x $6.5M aav with a NMC and partial NTC). I think if that's the range it has to be then Toronto will just offer him a full NMC and bring the aav down. I think the Josh Anderson deal is a better ideal fit for both sides though.

But I'd be weary of giving Hyman anymore than 4-5 years in term. He's had 2 serious injuries to the same knee and his style of play is already one that deteriorates that it will be a rough contract after that term. Be a tough deal to hammer out but I think the next 2 weeks will tell a big story. If Toronto does well without Hyman it helps the side of management, if they struggle then it helps Hyman's camp.

I really can’t see Hyman on any team other than the Leafs. I’m sure Dubas will lock him down too.
