Description
I'm not sure I've been able to make this work, but I just feel like there may be something there because with Kane going strong and finding a tender in Lankinen, could this team compete now?

Flipside for Buffalo, Dach is a good guy to build the trade around

BUF should 100% take this.

But CHI shouldn't do this, Boqvist is their defensive future

Not a Chicago fan. But I feel like Seabrook retiring and finding a potential goalie in Lankinen pushes them ready to try to compete

Chicago should not do this, they have a good thing going for future pieces. Toews is not LTIR Retired, he will come back next season.
As soon as you activate Toews, their cap structure is toast and have no way of paying DeBrincat Kubalik Lankinen etc as they move forward, and probably walking about from one of Kane or Toews once their contacts are up.

Yes this is assuming Toews is done. Do we know yet what is going on and if he's coming back? It's been quiet from what I've heard.

I've been wondering if it's some sort of chronic illness/cancer. Hope he's okay

Interesting. You're the first Buffalo fan on here (and polite, thanks for that).

You wouldn't be happy building a trade around Dach eh? Okay

Debrincat expires at the same time toews, kane and Keith do.

Move a few pieces and the Cap isn't bad.

Buffalo says no btw.

buffalo always says no to any Eichel trade, we get it. I am not talking about Buffalo sides of thing

This was Chicago and their cap bc its assuming Toews is done which he isnt, and then its sacrificing probably keeping only one of Toews or Kane.

I could see Buffalo being interested in Dach being that he has history with Cozens. That being said, Chicago shouldn’t touch any $10M+ player for a while. If Toews comes back, this team will be cap strapped to the bone and they aren’t close to being a contender again yet.

Chicago is coming together again but Eichel isnt going to make them a contender in the west against teams like the Avs or Knights during Kanes window.
Its sacrificing a lot of future in a Stud in Dach for a 1-2 year shot at upsetting those teams. The D core and fwd depth is still very weak in comparisons and its a gamble to put all your chips in the middle on a decent rookie goalie season

Dont think the risk reward is in Chicagos favour

As a Sabre fan I find this a well thought out offer - Eichel would probably like Chicago - I feel like Dach could eventually be a solid 1c - I like the fact that Boqvist has actually played in the NHL as compared to Lundkvist - of course you have to realize if you do this it's an all in sort of thing giving you a 2-3 year window to win a cup.

Yea this is fair, but it doesn't make sense for where CHI is in their franchise, but could you imagine the america pairing on the top line of Debrincat - Eichel - Kane

Buffalo said 4 1sts or assets with similar value. You have 3 so technically you are 1 short but I'm not a Buffalo fan so I could easily be wrong.

If it was me I'd say 2 top prospects and 2 1st rd picks in 2021 and 2022. I think 2 prospects and 2 1st rd picks instead of 4 1st rd picks since they already have some pieces in place and not having to wait 4 seasons to get the full return.

From what it’s worth usually every week there’s a Kakko, Lundkvist and a 1st for Eichel trade and that always gets labeled as hilariously biased. Not too optimistic here.

This trade doesn’t make sense on either side respectfully. Eichel won’t put the hawks over the top and somehow someway the Sabres will find a way to mess up Dach and boqvist. Keep in mind I can’t stand Dach and boqvist is really getting on my nerves with his lack of defensive development.

Either way, toews isn’t gonna be ready like a lot of hawks fans think he’s gonna be. His condition is way worse than that bull**** article saying he getting better suggested. As for the team as it stands next season, the defense is still porous and lankinen has finally come back to earth. Either way you split it, the hawks are still a ways away from competing consistently.

Dach has the potential to be a solid 1c which is one of the hardest things to find , Lundkvist to me is not with Boqvist simply because he has not played in the NHL yet, and Chicago's pick is a little better .

valid point with Dach. Makes most sense to replace Eichel with a center if anything. Disagree that Lundkvist’s lack of NHL experience matters in this context though. That would also mean you’d have an extra year of an ELC contract.
