No clue what this team will do

Created by: BroadStreet53
Team: 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2021
Published: May 10, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Honestly, I have no clue what the Flyers will do. I could see them standing pat and chalking it up to a Covid year. I think the defense has to be addressed in some way. I was here at work just making this as time went on. If anything is too outlandish let me know.

Winnipeg should have no interest in that deal. They don't need Patrick at all and a second is far too much for a guy trending to be a 4th liner with health issues.

Honestly it was just a Carter Hart year and if he was ok they'd be in a playoff spot easy and it was just a crazy occurrence to have a goalie of his ilk totally implode

His sv% this year was average for the 80s lol 😳

Did anything happen to him personally? 🤕

If you watched the Flyers games it was not Carter Hart. It was the defense. Hard to stop breakaways and 2 on 1s 10 times a game. He was not near as sharp as last year. However, he was hung out to dry on sooooo many occasions. Flyers need to get some bite in their lineup and they need a retool defensively.

As for this, I do not disagree as much. TK is really good, but I think his peak is about 60 points and maybe 25-30 goals. Johnny has that superstar ability to reach 90 points, but he has not shown it for awhile. I understand the cap situation makes it closer.

Take out aube , & add 2022 1st round pick

As it stands aube has zero chance of ever playing for wild.

Wild already are going to struggle to find room for Matt boldy unless greenway is moved . Wild have like a million great wingers, & wingers prospect

Di Morgan frost, & 2022 1st round pick for dumba

Flyers are good every other year. Since they sucked this year, they'll make the playoffs next year.

Flyers are my second favorite team, it's painful to see. Now that I saw my favorite team finally win a cup, it would be nice to see my 2nd favorite win. They've come so close in my lifetime.

I have one team and it is the Flyers. I have watched them get swept in the Cup and lose on the Patty Kane goal........so not the best of luck in that department. What team is your favorite?

With Scheifele, PLD, Lowry, and Perfetti possibly being ready next season, I wouldn't see the Jets trading a 2nd rounder, even in a weak draft for someone who may not even slot into their bottom-six. There are much better options in FA

Might be worth the risk though. If he can get past the injury issue, I think the risk may pay off. He’s played every game this year, he missed last but the 2 years prior missed 10 games each. He is still tremendously talented and just needs some confidence to pull it all together. Huge high risk high reward move that really doesn’t negatively effect winnipeg. That 2nd rounder may become a nhl player in 3-5 years? Patrick contributes right away, seems like a nice risk that may pay off.

that CGY deal is full of suck for the flyers, TK is equal to Gaudreau when you consider production, age, salary, contract, but Ghost, blue chip prospect and a 1st for Lucic is the kind of proposal thats almost laughable.
Also, who are you protecting from Seattle to have to throw in a bunch of stuff with Voracek? Is Voracek overpaid, yes but not by a lot, but he leads the team in pts, has no injury history and is a safe bet to continue his 60+ pts a year through his contract, he's no brent burns or shea weber. Are you protecting JVR?

Hate the teams peformance, but the amount of youth you're throwing out the door is way too much: TK, Zamula, a 1st, Patrick, Rubtsov, Frost, NAK ,a 2nd, and yet your defense is adding Dumba (good), and Larsson (sucks)? And yoiure adding rather old retreads in Bellmare and Martinook? Thats like 5 RECENT 1sts rounders youre showing the door. Not saying you dont make some of these moves, but in no way do martinook/bellemare/elliot/larsson make this team much better.

Theres only sanheim, hart and patrick to resign this year and collectively thats less than 8 mil. They move one of JVR or Ghost and thats plenty of space to add upgrades at RD, 4th line and goalie

Yeah, but with 9 points Patrick isn't contributing much of anything now that warrants a 2nd in return. Patrick put up the same amount of points this year as Trevor Lewis, so that definitely isn't worth throwing away a 2nd on. If Philly wants a 5th or lower or C/D prospect, okay, anything more isn't worth it. You can pick up low point, 4th liners for much, much less. Like Lewis.

I got carried away and just kept making deals. haha. I honestly do not think they do a lot. This team more than likely loses (NAK, Voracek, Ghost, or JVR to Seattle) Resigns Sanny, Patrick, and Hart) Fills out 4th line with some PK guys and depth pieces. Likely adds a veteran defenseman and goaltender.

I think if Seattle wants a good veteran to produce they'll gladly take voracek.

I think youre right on the re-signings, all of the youth (except farabee) regressed this year. To me the team needs speed and a solid physical RD who can play 20 minutes a night. While youngsters like frost, allison and york can improve team spee, a physical bottom 6 UFA guy like a foligno or calvert would help, and the team gets a dumba, savard, risto or murphy to solidify defense.

Ghost and JVR both upped their values this year, and while they're both overpiad. not by much and both have just 2 yrs left now. I could see both of them going.

Ultimately the team probably brings up 3 rookies next year (frost, allison, york? Or maybe zamula, ratcliffe, foerster) to up the team speed, they trade or go UFA for a RD (Savard, Risto, Weber, Dumba) and then get some needed grit on 4th line forward.

But I can;t see them going crazy, the team on paper is a real contender, but hart, sanheim, myers, patrick, lindblom, provorov and NAK all regressed from last year. The key is to see if they can fix those guys. Voracek, Giroux, Coots, Hayes all still are doing well, but when every youngster on your team plays poorly and loses confidence, the result is: this year.

Jesus Christ! We are giving up 4 assets, one of which is just as good as Gaudreau for JG and a massive cap dump?

Blues...up until 2019 every year was heartbreaking because we couldn't get to the Finals, let alone win. 86, 2001,2016 conference finals so naturally I wasn't expecting the Blues to make it to the Conference Finals again until 2031.

Also worth noting that Lindross and the Legion of Doom line is why I loved the Flyers so much.

I realistically see our lines looking like

    G-Coots-Farabee
    JVR-Hayes-Frost
    Lindblom-Patrick-Voracek
    Allison-Laughton-NAK (FA Signing)

    Provy-(FA Signing/Trade)
    Sanheim-Myers
    York/Zemula/Hagg-Braun

    Hart - (FA or Elliot)

Yes, and we have the monies for that. I think NAK and Ghost go, Frost comes up and your 3rd and 4th Centers are Frost and Patrick: pretty solid.

Overall it comes down to whether the team can "FIX" Sanheim and Myers and Hart. Id love to see a Foligno or Oleksiak on the team for beef, but....

NAK has taken so many bad penalties this season. I think he has fallen out of favor with AV. Ghost clearly is not in the plans so I tend to agree. I still am not sold on Patrick moving forward but as a 4th liner it is what it is. This team needs a first pairing right shot d-man to go with provy and everything will settle down.
    Hammerwise liked this.
