Eichel again

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 12, 2021
Published: May 23, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So still some cap space here to sign or make a trade for some depth since that looks a little soft. I was off the Eichel bus for a bit but have since comeback. Hopefully being on a competitive team helps his rumored additude issues. The neck thing is bothersome but it sounds like a MMA fighter has had the surgery he wants and has been back in the ring since so I'm now less concerned about that issue.

Not a actual trade. I expect Zach and the Wild to mutually agree to terminate his contract. The new Zach on IR is there to show his cap recapture penalty.

Wild send Soucy and a 2nd to the Kraken and Ron Francis is once again the proud GM of Victor Rask via expansion draft selection.

      5. 2022 1st round pick (MIN)
      Additional Details:
With Risto wanting out, Dumba now becomes a attractive piece for Sabres, Greenway is a young developing power forward, Rossi is a top center prospect to eventually replace Eichel.
Sabres fans will want Fiala as well but it's in the Sabres best interest to be a young team learning to play one more year to get a crack at Shane Wright.

      Additional Details:
Florida is in a cup window and Fenton is a fan. Zuccarello waives NMC because Florida can win now, is tax free, and next year his NMC converts to a 10 team NTC so he wants to put himself in a good position.

Isn't Zuccarello on a bad contract? We shouldn't be giving up a top prospect for a guy who will complicate re-signings
Would rather develop denisenko and have him cheap than get Zucc on that kind of deal

Six mil, 5+ with Denisenko, to put towards re-signing Barkov and Huberdeau instead of wasting it on Zuccarello seems to be a better idea...

The moves do make sense, gives Florida more of a win now potential as zuccarello shows all year he’s still a top playmaking talent. I would be reluctant to trade him with his chemistry on the team, but he would thrive better in Florida.

Also the eichel trade is quality and sets up buffalo while not breaking th me wilds back in talent and prospects. It’s a good balanced idea.

This is the trade that I wanted the most feedback from so thank you.
Zuccarello was sub par last year so the contract looked awful but he had a big bounce back this season so the contract looks justified other then his NMC which expires after next season.
I guess I thought Denisenko had fallen out of favor but perhaps I'm wrong. What could be done to make this work IYO?

Replace Dumba with Boldly - Dumba is a good player but part of the reason he's good is because he's an aggressive hitter unfortunately he seems to take as much wear an tear from his big hits as his opponents. Probably that is to much value so also take away the 2022 1st -so Eichel for Boldly, Rossi, Greenway and 2021 1st, BTW Rossi is no sure thing as about 1in 5 Covid sufferers have long term if not permanent decreased function of the heart and lungs.

I get what you are saying but the Wild can't make the deal if Sabres don't want Dumba. Wild really don't have the cap space to make it work otherwise.

      Not at all really
He has been playing well at all levels so far, even when he was called up to the NHL
Just haven't been playing him because of our depth and more of a need for grit than skill

I don't think Florida should be looking to trade for an older player on a big contract like Zucc

Is the Norwegian thing true? My biggest reason is cap space. Also I would like to reunite Kaprizov with Gusev, who he had good chemistry with in international competition. Another motivation of mine is to address the lack of right hand shots on the Wild, I believe it would make them tougher to defend.

I think the Norwegian comment came from zuccarello himself after he sign. I can try to do some research if you want?

I really would feel like it's wrong asking him to waive especially if it's true

The Wild are nothing without Foligno. I know nothing about Pilut which makes me think he is a contract balancer? You may have a fair proposal but if I'm Guerin I walk away from any deal where Wild give up both Rossi and Boldy as well as Foligno, not saying they are untouchable but Wild shouldn't move all 3 of them.

I’d expect Fiala, Greenway, Rossi, and 2 1sts. Particularly if they’re for this year. Mid round at the highest.

The Eichel trade is fair value, but I don't see the Sabres wanting Dumba.

I really hope the Kraken plan you outline doesn't happen. Who are you protecting that you're giving away so much? If you really want to get rid of Rask, I'd just buy him out. It's likely that the Kraken would just select Soucy if he's unprotected. So then you get to keep your draft pick.

Zuccarello wants to be here and KK clicks with him. I'd rather see those two on a line with Eichel than trade Zuccarello at this point.

Hadn't given much thought to who I am protecting since I made the deal to dump Rask. You are probably right I should just protect 8 and tell them take someone.
It's a fair point you make on Zuccarello, and really doesn't break my heart keeping him since he works, I'm just making cap space and finding right hand shots.
Rask is me begging the Wild to come to their senses with him. Dean keeps playing him, Billy stands up for him, yet Joe schmoe hockey fan can see he can't skate well enough to keep up and he is possibly the Wilds biggest offender when it comes to bad turn overs. I'll excuse Fiala and Kaprizov because they more than make up for it, but Rask does not.

I think GMBG is pumping Rask up to trade him this off-season

That's what I'm thinking too, but other teams have scouts, they see what we see.
