Well, based on the numbers over the past couple of years, Rielly is the better of the two (Keeping in mind that Torts had the Jack's playing the trap, and sucking any sort of offensive game out of a lot of guys), but I don't know why Columbus would do this? The ever-so-slight potential upgrade that Rielly *might* bring, doesn't fix the issues with this team. Plus, he's a 1 year rental. Trade Jones for a 1st, a solid C prospect, and another mini piece...much better off than having another guy show up, then leave.

Jones has said he is gone in 2022. Why should a team pay a fortune for him when they can just sign him as a UFA for Free. When you say you wont extend with your home team that affects the trade value. At most columbus will get is a rental Dman of the same caliber or a 2nd and a mid tier prospect unless Jones agrees to an extension and is than traded.

Maybe, the problem is Tavares isn’t waiving his No Movement Clause for the dumpster fire that is Columbus right now. Honestly I don’t see a realistic trade between Toronto and Columbus for Jones, unless it revolves around Jones (50% retained) for Holl, A top prospect and a good pick (1st probably).

Marner cound be realistic, but that's if we go for a quick rebound rather than a rebuild, and doing that would also require some more substantial moves that could easily go wrong.
