The reason this is a hard no from Detroit is that they already have 4 defenders they'd like to protect in the expansion draft. There is no way they will give up a first line winger for a player they may lose in the draft.

You also have to factor in that Detroit have 10 good defense prospects in their pipeline already and that there is going to be plenty of defenders available as FA this year.

thanks for being respectful about it lmao. It makes sense when someone actually tells you why this trade would be rejected instead of someone spamming "bertuzzi >>>> Dunn+Wallman"

If Columbus decides to move a goalie, they aren't gonna be interested in a deal where the return is primarily another goalie. The FO has very high expectations for Tarasov in addition to whichever or Korpi/Elvis they wouldn't trade and Kivi. A goalie deal would be for either picks or a forward.

    Well...

A trade has to make sense for both teams.

If you check out the Detroit roster you'll see that it is indeed very weak on LD. But there are very intriguing prospects coming in next year in Johansson and Viro and with Sebrango and McIsaac already there and with Lindström on the Red Wing roster full time next season (he plays both sides) as well as several really interesting unsigned prospects what Detroit needs is one or two good veterans to stabilize the left side for a few years until the prospects mature.

There is simply no need for what you are offering. What you proposed was for Detroit to give up one of their best and most valued players for something Detroit have no use for. It's not really surprising that commenters reacted.

Wow okay, a lot to break down...

1- Detroit isn't making that trade.
2- The Blues are NOT trading Sunny to a division rival, let alone for that extreeeeemely bad return.
3- Korpisalo's gonna be a no, as well. Husso will be fine.
4- Big no on both UFA signings. Would rather have Bortuzzo than Montour and Brassard simply isn;t needed.

So, overall, not a fan. And the best thing on it won't happen.

Dude look at it this way? Svechnikov+Edmonton's 2021 2nd round pick for Dunn like it or not Svechnikov is a 20th overall pick so it's basically a 1st and 2nd for Dunn rather you like it or not. Bertuzzi > > > > > > Walman it's not even close.

What??? Uhhh no. Svech is definitely a bust and you've clearly never watched Walman. He's worth more than Svech at this time.

CORRECTION: Act like the 2nd round pick isn't there. What do you think now?

Still not even close. Detroit wont move Bertuzzi for Dunn. Walman is probably an AHL guy so he doesn't add any value. I could see Detroit offering a 2nd and Svech or a 2nd and 3rd. Similar to the Devon Toews deal last year. If Detroit is moving Bertuzzi they will want someone to replace his production up front, a high end prospect or a 1st.

Kyrou isn’t getting anything close to 4 million per season

he just had a great season. I'd be shocked if he got less than 3.5 million

Kyrou doesn’t have arbitration rights and neither does Thomas. That’s going to affect their short term deals.
