Damn yanno this AGM kinda got me jazzed for the Sabres a little which is quite a feat because CW: SABRES FANS their situation is so flipping depressing rn

Rebuild on the fly 💫

Heck there's even lotsa cap space to weaponize

Blake said he won’t move Byfield, it’s a non-starter. There are only a handful of teams with the assets and cap space. I think Vegas and Krebs might be the better route for the Sabres.

Every GM says stuff like that
If they want Eichel, they’re gonna have to pay up
Also,
Got a link to Blake saying this?

They want Eichel if they can send Turcotte ++, if it needs to be more than that I’d say pick the team that beats the Kings offer, they don’t need Eichel as bad as you might think. Kopitar-Byfield-Turcotte-Vilardi up the middle is pretty solid during a cap squeeze.

And Kopitar-Eichel-Turcotte-Villardi is even better
Maybe Turcotte +++ does it
We’ll just have to wait & see

Do u guys NEED Eichel? No
But he accelerated getting you to the playoffs & gives Kopitar, Brown & Doughty the help they all want now
See:
Doughty’s comments about trading prospects for help now

I think trading for Eichel makes perfect sense for LA
But you’re gonna have to give up a lot to beat out the other offers for him

Better but $10M more of a cap hit during a frozen cap without addressing top line LD (Doughty is playing with a rookie) or a top line winger (Dustin brown led the team in goals). It’s about addressing areas of concern, the Kings should give an offer but I don’t think they will be distraught if they are out bid.

We’ll see
Sounds like Doughty wants Eichel though
And i know FOR A FACT that Blake has been calling about Eichel for over 2 seasons now, so I’d say he wants him too
Obviously it’s impossible for either of us to say what Blake would or wouldn’t pay to get him,
So we’ll just have to wait & see

Id take power over a goalie , but the pick should be berniers. Another player like cozens, good way to change the culture

in my opinion, the Eichel market will start from the bottom up, rather the top down.
most teams are going to offer just enough that hurts them a bit, no a lot (meaning no Byfield, no Laf, etc.).
the winner in any Eichel trade will be the team that gets him. the loser will be Buffalo.

The kings are trading for your franchise center who has failed to get you into the playoffs his entire career with the Sabres, he’s openly bad mouthing his organization, he’s injured, had his worst career year, is a year away from a NTC kicking in, and would be the Kings third $10M contract during a cap freeze. The Kings are pretty well set at center, would Eichel make them better, absolutely, is it worth giving up your best overall prospect (drafted at #2 last year), best wing prospect, most steady defenseman graduate, the 8th overall, and a second rounder? If you are Rob Blake and such a package doesn’t get you even into the post season the following year, you are officially on the hot seat. Eichel is worth a crazy package, but don’t disillusion yourself, the Sabres will be selling low on him if they move him this summer and every viable team knows it.

I think for that haul Sabres retain 1M, because their GM is silly enough to agree to it.

Makes sense that’s how the offers would start
But if they don’t get better, then Buffalo still has Eichel under contract for FIVE more years
We don’t have to “sell low” on him

We’ll see what happens
But i think we will get a haul for him
And of course we’ll lose the trade
U can’t really win a trade when you’re shipping out someone as good as him- no matter how many good young pieces u get back

Did you not read what I put in my comment? The Sabres will be selling low and every viable team knows it, Eichel didn’t have a banner season, he just trashed his own franchise and the vultures are circling for a deal because pressure is on Buffalo management to get the best deal they can from him. You’ve got basically 4-5 teams that can pull it off, go ahead and tell me the best prospect you can pull from a trade if not the Kings. Krebs? Rossi? Kakko? No team is giving up someone like Byfield, Turcotte ++ should be enough to get it done, if the cost is more than that, Blake should look to other teams and the free agency.
