How much would Brent Burns cost

Description

I think Brent Burns would be a reasonable Dougie replacement if Dougie does leave in UFA. I'm not sure, but I think Burns should cost less then Jones because of the Cap situation in San Jose and his contract. Even if the cost is close/more I think Burns fits the hole created by the loss of Dougie.

My two questions are:

What does Burns cost straight up?

and

What does Burns cost with a ~2 million dollar retention?

I wouldn't touch him. He's a shell of the player he was offensively, and he's still a disaster defensively.

have to agree with gross. He has fallen off a cliff into a bottom pair RHD. He is only going to get slower at 36 as well.

Gardiner would have to go back the other way plus getting some nicer pieces at full cost. 2 million retention would still mean Gardiner and we get good pieces to make it work. Im having a hard time putting something on it

They should be willing to pay to get rid of him. Salary retention helps pull his value up, but they’d have to retain at least three million for his value to not be negative imho

The answer is negative value.
The answer to with some retention is probably more or less nothing.

The bigger issue is his no trade, so it’s probably not realistic.

Burns is not what he used to be. If you want a RD from San Jose that's still serviceable, maybe EK with retention... but Burns is a husk of himself.

I was thinking we could pick up some assets while getting a decent replacement, but it seems he has fallen off hard than I thought. I probably wouldn't like it, now that I have heard feedback

It's only a 3 team trade list. Carolina might be on it but I would assume not

Honestly last season wasn’t THAT bad. This season was pretty rough
