Lines after Schiefele 4 game suspension

Description

My opinion is that the hit was clean. It was a bit of a charge because he skated from the other zone down to the goal line. Although he glided from about the top of the circle into the check. Feet stayed on the ice when contact was made. Did not make contact to the head. Went for the check after he knew that the puck was out of his reach. It deserved something but definitely not 4 games however everyone has their own opinion.

Now the lines... Stasny was out last game from an undisclosed injury but he should be back for Game 2. DeMelo left 29 seconds into his first shift and they don't have an update on him yet. My guess would be DeMelo is out next game but Stastny returns to the lineup.

For forwards coming into the lineup, I would think that on forward they would put back in Vesalainen. Vesalainen played in game 1 against Edmonton and looked solid. If Perfetti was in Canada right now and not being benched at the World Championships I would definitely give him a chance. After the game last night I would put the 3rd and 4th lines back to the usual. The 3rd and 4th lines can shut down the Habs, while the 1st and 2nd lines take care of the offense. The 1st line would change a bit by putting Dubois in the center spot. Dubois has not been the best so far this postseason and during the regular season, although last year he destroyed the Leafs in the qualifiers, and if the Jets can unlock that version of Dubois then they will not have to worry about not having Schiefele available. On the second line, Stastny comes back in with Vesalainen and this time has Ehlers with them. In Game 1 against Edmonton, I thought that Stastny, Vesalainen, and Copp looked good together, and with Ehlers instead of Copp, it will be even better.

On defense, I would put in Heinola. Morrissey did not look like himself from the last round because he had rotating partners including Poolman. The Poolman - Morriessey pair has never looked good and the only time Morrissey looks good is with DeMelo or Heinola. The rest of the defense stays how it usually is.

Let me know what the lineup should be, not about the suspension because I have heard enough about it today. Thanks!

Did you just say the hit was clean?

The guy who never backchecks skated full speed towards an empty netter and jumped 1 foot to hit the head of a defenseless opponent when the play was dead instead of using his stick if we really wanted to break the goal. He was just pissed off because of how the game went & found someone to liberate his anger on.

You can't tell me that Scheifele didn't have time to let up once he realized he had no chance of stopping the goal. ANY contact after a goal is scored is illegal.

More to the point, I don't think you can seriously tell yourself that.

If Tom Wilson had hit Nikolaj Ehlers like that, you guys would all be clamoring for 40 games, not 4.

Your guy did something not merely egregious but shameful. You guys should own up to it.

You should honestly read the rulebook on the NHL website, a charge isn't depending on strides they take before the hit, but distance travelled and violence of the hit. Scheifele filled both criteria of a long distance and very violent hit.
It's a charge, dirty check, suspendable more than 1 game, lawyered

And if it was another teams 1st line center with no previous suspension history cranking a Jets 4th liner I highly doubt that guy would've gotten a 4 game suspension, Scheifele should of got two games.

Scheifele should have gotten 6 games. You say 2. I'm glad the NHL compromised on 4.

The perpetrators history matters and Schiefele has zero history of dirty hits but his first offense is 4 games which is considered 8 regular season games, if Scheifele did this while a member of Boston or the Rangers he'd be getting a one or two game suspension.

You're right he didn't leave his feet but initial contact was to the head how else do you explain Evans being knocked out directly after impact?? Scheifele hit him in the head it was a pre meditated dirty hit that resulted in injury he should be gone for minimum the rest of this series

If KK or Suzuki did it to Lewis it would be the exact same result not sure how you process that as being different if anything they would get more games because they're not as big of superstars as Scheifele..
Now if Edmundson or Anderson did this to Ehlers / Scheifele / Wheeler etc... they would be getting minimum 10 games
