Working on the first part of a review of the 2010 drafts. Look out for it in the NHL forum

Lost my Morale to do this after losing like 15 minutes of work. If someone wants to do something similar go ahead but I'm upset I lost my hard work

Who would you guys think are fits for Dallas’s need for a top 9 scoring winger?

Qualifications: 1-2 years of term, contract no higher than 4 million with retention, someone who can score goals, having 45-55 point per 82 games, someone who shows up during the playoffs.

Andreas Johnsson (I wish)

Phil Kessel would be the best option available

Dvorak just barely misses those criteria. I find he’s overrated but I guess he could work on the third line

Lmao 13 year olds shouldn’t be on this site. He probably turned 13 yesterday so he made an account. He he’s just a homer and extremely biased. Probably doesn’t know anything about the NHL anyway so ignore him.

I mean all new cap friendly accounts need time to adjust to the community I’d say, but yes the younger you are the more likely you’ll have “homer” takes

To some of the other talks, analytics shouldn’t not be used by themselves for an argument, and my top 5 centers list would be:

Danault
Suzuki
Kk
Evans
Galchenyuk

Until we see a massive drop he still is in the top 3 conversation. Good at both ends, strong puck handler and can be relied upon in almost all situations. Only guy who is for sure better is Mcdavid and maybe on some lists Mackinnon.

As for the top 10 if we go 6-10

Draisaitl
Barkov
Eichel (before the injury as lets be real next season once healthy he will be back to dominating the score sheet)
Bergeron
Petterson

There’s no shot Pettersson is a top 10 centre, he hasn’t even put up a point per game season yet. He’ll probably get there in the next couple years but he’s not better today than Aho, Barzal, Scheifele, RoR, etc.

He’s pretty darn close to PPG but that doesn’t even mean everything. He has some of the best advanced stats in the league and plays a 200 foot game. Yes I am a bit biased but he’s definitely top 10 in my eyes. His skill and hockey IQ really drives his game. He had a down year and it doesn’t help that he got hurt.
I’m also pretty sure he’s had the best projected WAR in the past few seasons better than McDavid and MacKinnon and literally everyone else in the league. Obviously that doesn’t make him the best in the league but it goes to show how valuable he is and how much he changes the game when he’s on the ice. and has very good pts/60 minutes. I think he is a top 10 center but hey, that’s just my opinion and there’s no definitive answer

If you asked me who were the top 5 centers in the league here’s how I rank them:

1. McDavid
2. Mackinnion
3. Draisital (however you spell his name)
4. Matthews
5. Point (it’s really up for grabs I don’t care who you think it is as long as it makes sense)

This is decent, except how is Point top 5? I just don’t see it. Here’s Mine:

McDavid
Crosby
MacKinnon
Barkov
Draisaitl

Not bad! I would argue Draisaitl is better than Matthews, and Barkov needs to be here, but I don’t feel like it. Also, everyone has their own opinions! I’m just happy you didn’t say he’s better than McDavid like some leaf fans have said…

Fair enough… for me, he’s 6. Draisaitl, and Matthews are pretty close in my opinion. It could go either way. And yah, McDavid, and MacKinnon are way ahead of the others.

Point's tied Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux at 3rd all time in players scoring 14+ goals in multiple playoff years (with 2 years). He's top 5 imo

Also he had the 2nd longest goal scoring streak all time in the playoffs, one behind Reggie Leach

Streaks don’t mean everything but I agree, point should be top 5. I have him at 5th

I think his high hockey IQ and skill will eventually lead to increased real production and that will carry him into top 10 within 1-2 years, but until that comes to fruition I just don’t think he can be ahead of a guy like RoR (better defensively, similar offensively) as that is Petey’s X-factor. I’m also not sure if we can really take into account his defensive contributions when the Canucks are one of the worst teams in terms of possession, high danger chances, and shot quantity, and he doesn’t play PK, so that doesn’t push him past an outstanding offensive contributor like Scheifele (yet). I do think he’ll probably wind up top 7 in 3-5 years (McDavid/MacKinnon/Matthews/Wright/Bedard is tough to crack but there’s a good case for him being the best of the rest in a few years). Also as a sidenote isn’t WAR the thing that’s been bugging recently (Verhaeghe best projected player in the league, McCann 2nd to McDavid last year) or was that a diff stat lol. Regardless, if it has him better than McDavid and MacKinnon it should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

I think You’re referring to GAR. I remember seeing McCann ranked 2nd behind Mcdavid

Petey is high on both. Not a stat to solely base opinions on but it just goes to show his effectiveness
