Wow. 6 million is a lot of money for a relatively unproven player (I think KK will be terrific, but he's still relatively unproven so far). It seems like the Canes just want to get back for the Aho unwritten-rule-break by Montreal a couple of years earlier. Especially when you consider this:

Because he’s young, he was great in the playoffs in 2020 and did pretty well in 2021 too, we’ve seen the talent, he just has to show it consistently now

Not to mention that the supposed "logic" behind trading Ned was to save money to sign Hamilton...whom they offered 6.2x8, compared to 9x7 from NJ. Great job indeed.

I mean Kk isn’t actually a replacement level forward if you watch him play and ditch the analytics but yes he’s not worth 6+mil, Waddell is weird
