Carolina has two goalies that can’t stay healthy, and replacing Hamilton and Bean with Bear, Cole, and DeAngelo is a major weakening of their defense corps. Combine that with being in a tough division and they could very well slip despite improving their forwards with KK.

As for the Habs, they finished 18th last year, lost Weber for the whole season to be replaced by Savard (downgrade any way you slice it), and lost their most important centre for nothing. Hoffman for Tatar is basically a wash, maybe a slightly better power play. Losing Kotkaniemi as well would be a major blow for a team that already wasn’t good in the regular season last year.

To be fair, DeAngelo is a good player but he’s just a bad person

Tank for Wright lol. Kotkaniemi would have been the main piece for Eichel and acquiring Dvorak was always just to ease Kotkaniemi in the 2C role.

He’s good offensively, but still not as good as Hamilton. And he’s also one of the worst defensive players in the league, whereas Hamilton is quite good defensively as well. And anyone with his track record and no signs of apology/maturation doesn’t deserve to be paid a million dollars to play hockey.
