A Random Senators Rebuild

Created by: P1zzaPolarBear
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 9, 2021
Published: Jun. 10, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Well, here is a rebuild of the Senators. I tried to get a younger core, getting rid of certian players, and get more draft picks for a sustainable rebuild. This is done with Trades and signings, and I tried to keep them fair, but some might be outlandish to some, altough I'm really trying not to make anyone angry, so let me know what you all think.

I think you signed too many UFAs (the kids will get some spots) and most of em for too much. Dadonov also isn't close to worth that rn and most of the trades are questionable but specifically why did you trade our entire goalie pipeline lol

Yeah, I noticed the UFA signing too, quite a bit looking back on it. Dadanov could probably go for less, I agree with that now, but I traded the likes of Forsburg because he's mediocre, just like in Chicago, plus it would give way for Gustavsson, then I traded away Mandolese because his stats were not very good, plus C.Gibson is looking better then him.

I wouldn't be over the cap (with bonuses) just to sign two Dman, Montour and Barrie who might mess your cap in future years.

Oh, shoot, never even realized I'd be over with Bonuses. I think I'd probably stay with Barrie though, but drop Montour, that way there's still 4 million.

Some Red Wing fans will be mad about that trade.

I give feedback on here for fun so I'm not mad but I don't see the Wings doing that trade. They need the picks & younger guys not older ones.

Gibson is a 28yo AHL journeyman who is a decent 3rd stringer at best. Mandolese is a 20yo rookie pro who only played 9 games and is only a year removed from QMJHL goalie of the year. And the whole point of having forsberg is to let gustavsson develop in the ahl for another year to work on his consistency (and get more reps than he would as a backup), as well as give him some competition for the backup job so nobody gets gifted anything.

    1) Well thank you, I appreciate the feedback, and yeah, looking back on it, its not as good as I though.

    2) You make a good point. I see what I've done wrong, now that you point it out.

With respect; the value on the Detroit trade is heavily in Ottawa's favor. Also not a fan of either player so Detroit is gonna say no.

Can’t sign Tkachuk for 4 seasons as it walks him to UFA and bye bye

I wanted to add one thing that does happen a lot here rebuilding teams like Ottawa and Detroit don't usually make good trade partners since they are both trying to accomplish the same thing. Like moving out older players that are still good for younger players and picks.
