i doubt you dump kass AND get Chytil for that but no way you get a 2nd for Jones. especially when its gonna be an early pick in a good draft

If they are actually serious about keeping Seth a 2nd isnt that bad of a pick to give up. Only 25% of 2nd round picks make the nhl. And the 2022 draft has been deemed top heavy and a weak draft, not a good draft

Oilers easily decline the buffalo trade, wouldn’t trade Bear straight up for Ristolainen a pending UFA and has a career +/- of -163

Not sure why every Oiler fan keeps signing Tatar to multi yr deals the same Tatar that is watching from the press box as his team goes on a deep playoff run, the habs aren’t that deep of a team to be making Tatar a healthy scratch every night, he’s done any team willing take a gamble on him will get burned, Neal is a prime example

Rangers want to get tougher but not at the expense of Chytil unless he’s part of an upgrade at center. There’s a TON of players via UFA to accomplish that

Tatar has been out with an undisclosed injury and has played 5 playoff games he hasnt been scratched. Rasmus has been on the WORST team in the NHL for 8 years. A team that hasn't made the playoffs in eternity. What are you seriously expecting his plus/minus to look like lmao. The most completely useless stat in the NHL to boot. Bear is not built for playoff hockey. Look at the size OVERALL of the dmen on the remaining playoff teams. He literally was stapled to the bench in the triple ot loss to Winnipeg. I make that trade with an extension agreed upon

He was stabled to the bench because of his costly turn overs that was the 4th time he’d made that exact play that series size had nothing to do with it
Tatar was also a healthy scratch for the habs down the stretch, highly overrated player showing major signs of regression and is another smaller player that plays a soft game, not what the oilers need to add in their top six, need size with speed and a pure sniper.

Why do the Rangers suddenly see the need to get tougher when they gave away Brendan Lemiuex this season?

Detroit will say no to that for the following reasons.

1. Detroit already have 9 waiver eligible wingers penned in for next year + Raymond and Berggren.
2. That means that Neal is not especially useful as a player to Detroit, either him or another player would have to be waived and sent to Grand Rapids.
3. That also means that Marody, who is also eligible for waivers, actually lowers the value of the deal, not raise it.
4. Lagesson is not a very good fit in Detroit. We need LD but there are better options to be had. (Vince Dunn via trade, Gardiner or Gostisbehere on cap dump deals, FA signings).
5. Taking on 3 contracts that Detroit have no roster spots for would have Detroit run up to the 50-contract rule and hinder other better trade deals.

If you want Detroit to accept Neal for two years of cap dump you will either have to offer high picks (two 1st round picks) or two top prospects that are exempt from waivers (Lavoie + Holloway).

If you think that's too high a price to pay, then Detroit is happy to let you keep Neal.

This is TOMAS Tatar we're talking about right? Not some guy from your beer league right? What "signs of regression" is he showing? After a slow start he was on the same pace of points he's averaged throughout his career. His possession numbers continue to be positive as they have throughout his career (even in Detroit). Last season he had 61 points in 68 games (a career year). He has shown no signs of regression nor is he overrated. He's rated right where he should be rated.

The Detroit trade is a little silly. The two players hold little value in all honesty, theyre not old, but theyre not prospects anymore, and won't become impact pieces.
A 2nd from the oilers should be in the 50s, and a 3rd should be in the 80s.
2AHL players plus a late 2nd and late 3rd does not relieve you of Neal's contract imo.
The Staal trade got Detroit the 45th pick, for a player who played a position of need capably, for one year with his $1m signing bonus already paid and a real $salary of $3.2m.

The value for a Neal trade needs to therefore be more than double that as James Neal is paid only salary no bonuses, and is owed $5.75m real dollars in both of the remaining years of his deal. James Neal also does not play a position of need for Detroit, nor does he have the same leadership qualities as Staal. Assuming Edmonton finish in the same position as this year and therefore draft 20th, double the value of the Staal trade would be their 1st at 20th and a 3rd. Because the real dollars are higher the value would need to be better still. And that is assuming that the value of cap space hasnt increased since then, which is likely given our better understanding of the long term cap situation in the league.

Marleau's buyout was 3.833 in real dollars. The Neal buyout is twice that (7.666 in real dollars) therefor the value should be twice that trade (two 1sts).

Neal + 1st + 2nd + Lavoie for future considerations would have a good chance of being accepted.
