Sean Walker is worth a third on his own, Gostisbehere went through waivers without a claim. If you want another team to take Ghost, Flyers will need to retain or add value.

Too much from the Avs IMO. Value looks alright, but that's more or less our entire center depth right there. If a deal were centered more around Kadri + (picks, Helleson, etc.) for Couturier, then I think they talk.

Ghost cleared waivers in the middle of the season and he was not playing well. Most teams did not see a reason to claim him at that time given his term. Now that teams are preparing for an offseason and have seen what Ghost was able to do in Philly after he was waived they may be interested. It's also important to note that Ghost's remaining 2 years only pay $3.25 million each instead of the $4.5 million cap hit. He's always be movable. Especially this summer after his signing bonus is paid by Philly leaving only $1 million in base salary for this year. So for a team like LA that has cap space he might just be worth the risk for the potential higher reward. He did have pacing for 18 goals and 22 assists in a full season. I find it hard to believe teams are not intrigued by his addition.

You are getting 2 centers in return.

Well if he clears waivers again, you can tell that to 31 GMs who think otherwise. Either way, the Kings need a top-line LD who can eat real defensive minutes with Doughty, not a PP specialist who you need to zone protect.

Patrick has played wing and doesn't seem suited for 3rd line minutes from what I've seen. Jost is our 3C now and for the future, and Newhook will slot in at 2C when Kadri walks. So getting Couts in this deal solves 2C, but leaves a hole at 3C and potentially the future at 2C.

Patrick has primarily only played center. He moved to wing later in this season since he was struggling overall. To note, he's not just thrown into this deal if he wasn't struggling. He's still a high end talented player who may flourish in a change of scenery around other high skilled players in Colorado.

Never said Patrick wasn't a good player, I simply said he's not suited for 3rd line minutes. There's a difference.

I didn't really think there was a number order on the lines. Kadri and Hayes would tend to player the bigger and harder minutes for sure. Newhook and Frost could push for more offensive zone pressure starts that is for sure.

Okay. Couturier on Colorado would be a massive addition. I understand that Patrick is the holdup and Sakic apparently cannot find suitable depth for the 3rd and 4th lines after a move like this.

Anaheim says Yes. Los Angeles says No -- Walker is exactly who we want where we want him; Gostisbehere doesn't solve any problem for us.

It's not that he wouldn't be able to find depth in the bottom-6, it's more that they're going to be an at the cap team and going to UFA for bottom-6 generally means overpaying, which they can no longer do.

I disagree to a point. UFA's will be looking to teams like Colorado for a chance to win. They'll have the pick of the litter for the bottom 6 UFA's and not have to overspend on them.

What kind of offer if any do you think Colorado makes for Couturier? What if Colorado keeps Kadri the Flyers retain half on Couturier for the 1 season. Jost, Newhook, and a 1st get this done?

Realistic counter offer. Nice work. I think the Flyers pass on that but it gets serious consideration.

Potentially, but with a flat cap and Seattle coming into the mix, who the hell knows what's going to happen?

For Couts, it'd be non-roster players from the Avs. So we'd be talking a higher-level prospect in Bowers, Kaut, Barron, and Helleson, and then the 1st for Couts with no retention.

Value seems fair, but it doesn't make sense for the Avs.

Wasn't an offer, just strictly what I think makes sense for the Avs.
