I don’t see why Philly would value Byram so high when they have York and Provorov on the left side

I really think Philly can get more for Couturier. Maybe Colorado throws in another 1st?

Lol. Why are Flyers fans starting to mock Couts on the outs? Seems like a lock to me, especially when you're replacing him with an arguably less talented and more expensive RNH.

If it's one year of Couturier I agree with you. BUT if Sakic could get Couturier to extend reasonably this would IMO make you cup favorites. This is the missing piece. A shutdown defensive center than frees up Mac. This center combo IMO would be a better either Matthews/Tavares or McDavid/Draisaitl. It's true that I highly value defensive centers, BUT it's also true that each team right now has shutdown centers on their team.

"BUT if Sakic could get Couturier to extend reasonably" --> This is a HUGE if, and one that isn't all that realistic

Philly shouldn't be opposed to adding any high level defensive prospect. While Provorov has certainly shown he's a capable #2 defenseman the Flyers have not found the elusive #1 defenseman. Byram, York, Provorov, or Jones could all be that. Maybe they're all just #2's which is a good problem to have as well.

So Colorado isn't interested in this move. What would they trade for Couturier? Apparently Jost is untouchable in a Couturier trade.

I'm just not sure it's a fit right now. Colorado will be relying on their ELCs heavily in the next few years, and the Flyers want good, young prospects in return for Couts. The exact same players the Avs will need on the roster. If we're talking about him as a rental at the deadline? No doubt, but right now? I don't see it.

For argument's sake though, the deal would have to make sense with the cap for the Avs, so Kadri, Helleson, and a pick? Doubt the value's there and I can't think that would be of interest to Philly.

It's not Jost, it's Byram. Byram is untouchable. Jost can go and they'll help pack the bags.

Kadri, Jost, and a 1st would be decent value. Kadri fits the Philly's s-disturbing behavior

Disagree with you on Jost. He showed he's fully capable of playing 3C and thrived this year. They value that, especially with him being cost-controlled. Feel like if there's a fit, it has to be Kadri plus prospects/picks

Jost is a 3c, but if Soderberg resigns he can be the 3c with Couturier as 2c. Two bona-fide 1c's and a good 3c is better than one 1c, one 2c, one 3c.

I agree, but Soderberg is aging and not a passable 3C to me anymore. He'll slot in at LW with a team next year, guarantee it.

I'd go Kadri + Beaucage/Bowers + 1st for Couturier, but we need Jost for cap reasons.

Bowers could be slotted in for Jost. Not sure if Philly goes for it, but it wouldn't be the worst move if they could make it work.

Not polished enough for 3C yet. They have a 2-year window for a cup with Mackinnon's current deal. Gets messy after that, hence why no Avs fan wants to trade Jost right now. Trying to tweak here and there, but no wholesale changes and run it back next year.

I meant Bowers slotted in the trade, not the lineup.

Foppa21 offered Byram instead of Jost and Newhook in a prior trade discussion for Couturier. This is the amendment from those talks.

Byram shouldn't be offered up unless another equally talented young defenseman comes in return. For instance, Chychrun. Too much promise there and certainly not worth one year of Courturier.

Based on this discussion, Couturier is not going to the Avs.
