???Seattle isn't giving up the 2nd pick to big up a 10m cap hit in Eichel. Seattle is much better off, keeping those top picks and spending 10m UFAs (just like Sabres did with the trade you proposed)

I have a hard to trusting someone who isn't protecting Craig Smith and has SEA selecting Dan Vladar when Vladar will be protect from expansion lol. Think Dobber needs to go back to the drawing board lol

They didn't give up 2 overall. They gave up their 2nd this year and 1st next year.

If is so good for Seattle, why would Buffalo do it? Sabres aren't getting 10m in cap space and a premier pick.

I would imagine. The Newhook trade is possible but not probable. Just market value. I wouldn't move him if I were them

Buffalo would never do that, it's actually quite laughable.

It's not laughable. Strapping yourself with 19m for those two players. Any competent GM can spend 19m better.

Ok, if you were the Maple Leafs GM, would you trade Marner for the 1st overall pick?

Yes.

If I'm the Sabres GM, I would hope my # 1 pick will be cost efficient star, and in the meantime I have 11m to spend on UFAs.(not necessarily this year), which collectively have more value than Marner. That would be thinking as Leafs GM. Get a cost efficient star at # 1 and then 11m to restructure my team

Wow, you would probably be the only Toronto fan on here that would do that, but ok you stick to your guns and I can respect that.

Nothing about those avs moves makes a kick of sense

Toews is protected
And reinhart isn’t good enough to warrant Newhook, and he’s not even an upgrade at 2c over kadri since reinhart doesn’t even really play C, he plays mostly wing

Also kadri has a m-ntc, it’s a safe bet that Buffalo is on his no trade list,

if Fitzgerald made this trade he would be fired the next day. if they decide to trade for Ristolainen (awful idea to begin with) they're not giving up a 25 year old that was on pace to score 25 goals in a full season

Reinhart just finally got a shot to play centre this season and played exceptionally. He also drove play at just as high a rate as ever while having the top tier production... just because our organization stuck him on the wing doesn't mean a smart one like Colorado will.

Can't discount that it came while playing a different position and being able to take different lanes of attack and shoot from different spots. But yes what you said is correct

he got his shot bc Eichel got hurt and even then he wasnt one of the top 5 faceoff men on the sabres. Hes not a 2C. Hes a winger
and avs decline everything you proposed

There's a lot more to playing centre than taking faceoffs... lol

and he doesnt play Centre, he doesnt take faceoffs or play the position regularly. He played 11 games at Centre this year after they traded Staal. Lets not pretend his now a star Centre

Dude its a bad trade, avs are not trading Kadri and Newhook for 1 year of Reinhart who is going to either go to Arb get his 1 year deal to head to UFA or will ask for a overpayment of a extension.

You couldnt get newhook 1 for 1 nevermind with Kadri. Reinhart is not that good

He literally just had arguably his best season by all statistics and metrics while playing centre after being drafted as a centre? I'm confused by how that means he's not a centre?
The Sabres stuck him on Jack's wing because they've failed to build any kind of talent around them?
Do you view Draisaitl as a winger too?

11 games at Centre doesnt make him 2c now
