Why would Duncan Keith want to waive his NMC and be traded now

There are a few things I noticed that I'll seem to be taking place at the same time:

1. The announcement by Gary Bettman that potential discipline will be levied against the Blackhawks if "concerning allegations are true".

Does Duncan Keith have anything to do with this, is he being forced out by the team, or does he voluntarily just want out right away?

2. Within the last few hours, Captain Jonathan Toews publicly revealed the illness that kept him out for the entire season.

Was he told by the team to publicly reveal his illness in order to distract the public from something?

Is Duncan Keith being forced out by the team in what would be another attempt to distract the public?

All of this would be something called a "charm offensive" and a very clever one at that.

There are a lot of unanswered questions and it all feels suspicious.

I wish nothing but the best for the Chicago Blackhawks going forward :)

The only way the Canucks trade for Keith is if it's straight up for Myers

I don't think Keith and the other items are related at all. Keith was just posting on social media about having fun with his kids on a road trip. That's more likely the driving factor. Yes pun intended.

I highly doubt the team told Toews to announce anything, Keith's family lives in BC, and he has to live on his own away from them every season. Eventually, that must put a toll on him. I think he's going to Seattle, so Vancouver shouldn't be in question too much, they're already in cap problems anyways.

Hypothetically speaking of course. If Keith requested the trade...they retain 50% and get something better. The Hawks don't need a $6M 7th dman. They have too many dmen already.

Which is why he isn't getting traded to Vancouver. The Canucks don't need a 5.8mil 7th dman either

Really good points. This whole situation is mysterious and I don’t think we’ll ever find out what happened nor what’s going on in Chicago right now. All of this news is coming out suspiciously close together and it does seem like a PR stunt.
